Our host and show creator, Leigh Scott tells his story. We have Leigh's wife Abigail sit down with Leigh to tell his story the only we it can be told. To honor May Mental health awareness month, we thought now would be the perfect time in the leadup to the movie, Uncarcerated with Represent Justice to have Leigh talk about his prison experience, the death of his wife and daughter, trauma, substance use and mental health and how our systems neglect and abuse rather than heal and hold. 

We continue the Represent Justice ambassador and filmmaker editions of Uncarcerated as we sit down with Starling to talk about all of their amazing projects including Black Butterflies, Harvest and the horror film and immersive experience they are working on now as she fights to women giving birth in a cage. We discuss the incarceration of black women in America and how deeply connected it is to our history of slavery. Powerful episode with a powerhouse of a woman!

Uncarcerated Season 4 Episode 6 "Dana" - We talk to peer support specialist, community advocate and amazing human Dana about her experience in foster care, growing up in DC, the ,move to Florida and the roadblocks specific to the state around becoming a peer specialist where companies want to hire you because of your lived experience but then your background disqualifies you. When Dick Sargent replaced Dick York as Darren #2 = Bewitched was reborn...Such is Julius Irving joining Uncarcerated as the 3rd cohost of the show alongside Kevin Scott and Leigh Scott (no relation). This is the cultural epicenter...the frontlines of change in our justice system. We discuss the state of the justice system, the world and our role in shifting narratives from Community Spring political education to films with Represent Justice and more on this episode of Uncarcerated!!

You can expect regular shows monthly now as we talk to folks on their journey through the carceral system and our good friends in the advocacy world who battle daily to change it!!

We speak to a gentleman live from a county jail who was re-arrested on a technical probation violation for being late. From homelessness and desperation to an arrest, this guy was released and rebuilt his life against every barrier imaginable all while on house arrest. Full time job, sober living house, meetings, therapy...and because he lingered too long at an AA meeting...he was violated and re-arrested. 

We're bringing the show back! And we figured, what better way to start than from the very beginning...way back in 2022 when we 1st began. Here is our conversation with Peter. An in depth look at incarceration and the journey home. Enjoy.
