Unmasked Conversations
by Tamia Thompson
Vulnerability Welcomed!!! Unmasked conversations invite us to shed the facades we don daily, revealing the emotions and thoughts we often suppress to conform to societal expectations. These metaphorical masks grow heavy, becoming barriers that hinder our quest for authenticity. The weight of these façades can obscure our true selves, making it challenging to discern who we are beneath the layers we've constructed. For those who have embraced their true identities and feel no need for a mask, this message may not resonate; however, it is essential to approach this space with kindness and understanding. To my fellow masked individuals, know that you are welcome here, in a setting that values vulnerability and supports the journey toward self-discovery. Together, we can create a safe environment to explore our true selves, free from judgment and pressure.

Are you Fining Me
How many times today have you said “I’m fine” — and meant something completely different? For a lot of us, “I’m fine” isn’t just a phrase. It’s a reflex. A shield. A way of moving through the world without letting anyone get close enough to see what’s actually going on. And over time, it stops being a white lie and starts becoming a whole identity. In this episode I sat down with two guests — Terroya and James — for one of the most honest conversations I’ve had about what it really means to say “I’m fine.” We started where most of us start — with ourselves. The internal struggle of carrying something quietly, convincing yourself it isn’t that serious, pushing through because that’s just what you do.But the conversation took us somewhere I didn’t expect. Because “I’m fine” doesn’t just affect you. It shows up in your relationships. It creates distance between you and the people who love you. And sometimes — without ever meaning to — it becomes the thing that slowly tears those relationships apart. What would change if you stopped saying “I’m fine” and started telling the truth? This episode is for anyone who has used “I’m fine” as armor. And for anyone who has watched someone they love disappear behind those two words. IN THIS EPISODE— Why “I’m fine” becomes an automatic response — and what’s underneath it— The internal cost of carrying your struggles in silence— How “I’m fine” shows up in relationships and creates invisible distance— The moment it stops being self-protection and starts becoming self-sabotage— What vulnerability actually looks like with the people who care about you— Practical ways to move from “I’m fine” to honest, even when it’s hard MEET THE GUESTS— Terroya — someone who lives this daily while handling a chronic illness, she often tells people "I'm fine" while quietly being in battle— James — is a great male example of how often they walk around trying to hold the world for those they love yet never quite feels safe so he defaults to "I'm fine" CONNECT WITH UNMASKED CONVERSATIONS— Website: unmaskedconversations.com— Leave a review on Apple Podcasts , t helps more people find this space— Share this episode with someone who needs to hear it— Tag us on social — we want to hear what landed for you If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a mental health professional or contact the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 (free, confidential, 24/7).Connect with Unmasked Conversations Website: unmaskedconversations.com Email: [email protected] TikTok: @unmasked.conversations Fanbase: fanbase.com/unmaskedconversationsIf this episode resonated, share it with someone who needs it. The Weight I Didn't Know I was carrying
What do you do when you’re carrying something heavy but you don’t even have a name for it yet?For a long time, that was me. I was showing up. I was functioning. From the outside, I had it together. But on the inside I was dreading every single morning, fighting off panic attacks because there wasn’t time for them, and listening to a voice in my head that said — you don’t even have a reason to feel this way.So I kept the mask on. And I kept moving. In this first episode of Unmasked Conversations, I’m sharing my story. Not the polished version. The real one. The one where I finally had to admit — to myself, before anyone else — that my soul was tired. This episode is for the person who is still saying ‘I’m fine’ on autopilot. The one who doesn’t feel like their struggle is big enough to name. The one who is waiting to feel worse before they take it seriously. You don’t have to keep waiting. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.Welcome to Unmasked Conversations.
