In the last 8-10 minutes of the class, when talking about fulfilled prophecy, I misspoke about the probability being 100x more with every zero. I should have said 10x more with every zero.

Though Jesus' first coming fulfilled many prophecies in part—bringing light, reconciliation, and the Spirit's presence—His full arrival remains future, when all nations will gather, the curse will be reversed, and the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as waters cover the sea. In the present, believers are called not to passive waiting, but to active participation, bearing fruit and proclaiming the gospel through the Spirit, as the church becomes a living testimony to the coming kingdom, where hope, joy, and obedience are sustained by the transforming knowledge of Christ.

The sermon centers on the ascension of Christ as a moment of divine sovereignty and empowering commission, not abandonment. It draws from Acts 1 to illustrate how the disciples, though longing for Christ's immediate restoration of Israel's kingdom, are redirected from fixating on timing to embracing their present mission: to be witnesses empowered by the Holy Spirit, beginning in Jerusalem and extending to the ends of the earth. The cloud that takes Jesus from view is not a sign of absence but of enthronement—fulfilling Daniel's vision of the Son of Man receiving everlasting dominion, thereby establishing Christ's present rule over all creation. Far from cowering in fear, the disciples respond with joyful obedience, gathering in prayer and readiness, demonstrating that the Spirit's presence now enables them to live as kingdom agents. The message calls believers today to shift from passive longing for Christ's return to active, Spirit-empowered witness, prayer, and obedience, trusting that Christ's ascension means His authority is already at work transforming the world through His Church. It underscores that raising children involves more than simply providing for their basic needs; it requires intentional instruction in the Christian faith, recognizing that children are born sinners in need of redemption. The sermon clarifies that baptism is a church-led decision, not solely a parental one, and encourages parents to trust in God's work despite imperfections, ultimately prioritizing the spiritual well-being of their children through faithful obedience to biblical principles.
