    April 2026 - Glow Big or Go Frome

    Send us Fan MailThis month on When in Frome, we’re embracing the light…and what happens after dark.Daisy heads to Packsaddle Fields, where frustration is growing after access to the green space was blocked. She speaks to campaigners and local councillors about what the future might hold. She also joins Frome and East Somerset MP Anna Sabine on a rural safety walk in Beckington, highlighting the issue of violence against women and girls after dark and what can be done to help people feel safer.Sonia’s been set a very seasonal challenge, cooking wild garlic scones - with a little help from local author Eleanor Hayes. She also checks out The Moors, a dark comedy by Jen Silverman, exploring desire, desperation and life on the bleak English moors.We’re at the opening of the Kindness Festival, meeting the team behind a powerful community quilt remembering loved ones, and Daisy explores the magic of Window Wonderland, as Frome quite literally glows in the dark.Our Local Legend this month is Tori Allison, the force behind Window Wonderland and Chair of the Cheese and Grain. Daisy chats to this month’s Local Legend, Alison Murdoch, from The Good Heart Café and the Frome Kindness Festival, about why simple acts of care can have a ripple effect far beyond the high street. Later, the team head down to the River Frome to explore an uplifting piece of local nature news: beavers are back! They hear how these industrious creatures are reshaping the landscape and what their return means for wildlife in Somerset. And of course, Becky rounds things off with her Fabulous Frome Forecast, your guide to all the best gigs, markets and festivals happening in November. It’s an episode filled with warmth and hope - a reminder that even in times of loss, kindness really does grow here in Frome.

    October 2025 - Trick or Tweet

Daisy braves a ghost walk led by the long-departed Reverend Joseph Glanvill, uncovering spooky tales like the Nunney Hitchhiker and the Griffin ghost. Sonia takes part in the Frome Big Bat Count, spotting 187 bats across 12 species - proving Halloween isn't the only time bats come out to play. Our Local Legend is Jackie Bryant, Asda's community champion, whose tireless fundraising supports charities across the town. And in this month's Challenge Sonia, she picks up a bow and arrow for an archery session - and turns out to be a natural. The whole team was out at the Frome Carnival, capturing the atmosphere and interviewing people in the crowd.
