26. 'I'll Saw That Bike Up' - The Dad Who Eats Raw Onions
Would you eat a sandwich from a corner shop? We're back again with the man whose two biggest idols growing up were Ian Rush and Mr T: Steffan Evans, to talk about his father, John Bach, the man who snacks on raw onions but has never tried pasta and sauce. In this episode, Steff tells us details about his relationship with John, like the fact that they were never a hugging family growing up, but that nowadays, they do hug, albeit after a bit of build up from a handshake. He also tells us how he keeps in dad touch, and the fact that his dad has 5 landlines but never seems to answer any of them. Plus, we learn about John's unique method of dealing with scam callers. We also explore John's eating habits: farting after eating crab legs, his love for choc ices and salt 'n' shake crisps, and his refusal to eat any beans other than heinz. Steffan reminisces about the first time he smelt egg, a man who ran a tuck shop from his transit van, the time his father raffled off Steff's car, and threatened to saw up his bike to stop him from riding it (Steffwas 30 at the time). Plus, he tells us how his obsession with the A-team led him to go shopping wearing a Mr T mask, and to pop all the tyres on his dad's car. Finally, Joe and Steff talk about the first time they met at a comedy gig attended by Rhod Gilbert, Steff shares the most inspirational life advice his dad ever gave him, Joe goes on a rant about politics, and Max tells the story of when his dad ordered some chocolate and received cat food instead.ABOUT OUR GUEST: Steffan Evans from Eglwyswrw in Pembrokeshire, is a comedian with a unique insight into the world . He supported Elis James on his national tour in 2017 and also appeared on S4C’s “Gwerthu Allan” and “O’r Diwedd” shows. 25. 'Sleaze and Filth in a Comfortable Environment' - The Dad Who Stole a Tree
Is it okay to take stuff out of other people's skips? It's an exciting day for the pod as we welcome South Wales comedy royalty - thought of as a hard man of the Cardiff comedy scene (and as a bit of a soft lad back home): STEFFAN EVANS!In this episode, we discuss Steff's dad, John Evans, affectionately knows as JOHN BACH (little John), a short but girthy man who stands at 10 beer cans tall and weighs the same as a standard beer keg. John is known as the local hard man in a Pembrokeshire town exclusively populated by hard men, a master pintsman who loves a punch-up, a horseshoe-moustached terrier of a man, who has never shied away from hopping on a JCB in his life. We discuss John's various sources of income throughout his life, which include: driving massive lorries, home-brewing 10%apv ale, and stealing local trees. Steff also tells us about John's love for war films and Welsh country music.Steff reminisces about happy memories of his dad placing him into a skip to rummage through for any treasures, and driving lessons which consisted of giving his dad a lift to the pub (one of which led to a high-speed police chase). Things get a little bit blue as Steff discusses his dad's unorthodox take on the birds and the bees chat, the time he tried to watch a war film on video but it'd been taped over with a porno, and the times his dad hid his porn VHS tapes under Steff's mattress when he was six. Also in this episode, Steff tells us about the interesting experiences he had in Amsterdam and gives his top tips for pissing in the cinema. Plus, we all bond over tales of difficult gigs with antagonistic audiences in the Valleys and our shared hatred for misogyny.France also gets brought up a lot as Steff and Joe educate Max on the rather medieval public toilet system there, and Joe gets existential dread from the philosophical questions raised by the atomic deterioration of le grand kilogram. He also calls the French "filthy people" - which they are.ABOUT OUR GUEST: Steffan Evans from Eglwyswrw in Pembrokeshire, is a comedian with a unique insight into the world . Do you get excited for the cultural event that is: d'movies?Well, we've got a treat for you this week as Harri Dobbs takes us on a trip to the pictures to explore the film & TV viewing habits of Bobby Dobbies, the woke dad who loves his wife so freakin' much. These habits include: his inability to hide when he dislikes a film, hate-watching TV shows, loving Ghostbusters but loathing Groundhog Day, and hating Jim Carrey. We also explore his more wholesome viewing memories, such as: not liking films that are too "up themselves," going to the cinema with Harri to see all the X-Men films and highly anticipating the film 'Bullet Train' because he really loves the real-life bullet train. Also in this episode, Joe talks about one of the worst cinematic experiences of his life: watching The Long Walk in theatres, and reminisces about the days when he played 'The Great Escape' PS2 video game with his dad. Max sings 'These Boots are Made for Walkin' and goes on an expletive-ridden rant about the documentary 'Jim & Andy.' Harri shows off his Daniel Day-Lewis impression, and shares the best life advice that his dad has given him. Finally, the boys discuss how method acting is bad and skibidi toilet might not be that bad after all. They also give their thoughts on many films and TV shows, including 'Napoleon' and 'Friends with Benefits.' ABOUT OUR GUEST: Harri Dobbs is a Welsh comedian who hosts 3 podcasts: Didn’t Ask (answering Hypothetical questions), The Justin Timberthon (watching everything on Justin Timberlake’s IMDB) and Super Sentguys (watching the first and last episode of every series of Super Sentai). At the top of the show, Joe goes on a biblical feature length dad rant about the recent bodying he received at the Turkish barbers, while Harri and Max share their haircut horror stories, and we also discuss the time we saw a man with ten (10) half finished bottles of malt vinegar on his mantlepiece, and what his whole deal is/was. Harri also tells us about his parents' first date and stories of going to the gym with his dad.We also discuss a recent gig we all attended together, where we realised we're a bunch of Balamory boys in a world overrun by Peppa Pig children who are always on their dang phones. Finally, Harri unveils his new comedy character and shows off his Powerpuff Girls abilities.Vince Vaughn gets brought up quite a lot, as well.ABOUT OUR GUEST: Harri Dobbs is a Welsh comedian who hosts 3 podcasts: Didn’t Ask (answering Hypothetical questions), The Justin Timberthon (watching everything on Justin Timberlake’s IMDB) and Super Sentguys (watching the first and last episode of every series of Super Sentai). 19. 'She's Doing Admin For Moths' - Mother's Day Special (Max's Mumbers)
Mother knows best! Or does she?Let's find out as we once again get mummy-fied in the Mother's Day special episode! This time, we discuss the mum-bers of Max's mum: Meriel, a moth-loving, beekeeping mother-of-three who's been known to eat and leave no crumbs from time to time. Max recounts memories of navigating primary school while his mum worked there (and the difficulty of her office being on the way to the head teacher's), the time she wrangled a runaway horse, and the time she nearly gave her own father a knuckle sandwich after he kicked a wasps nest. Max also talks about spending quality time with Meriel; helping her tend to her bees and to tick a big thing off her bucket list: a capybara experience. We also discuss Meriel's passions for teaching city kids about nature, TV shows about cops and movies about dudes with shiny heads driving cars real fast & furious, plus Joe gets worried that her interest in moths might lead to the flying insects taking dominion over humans. We also discuss the big day itself and the reason we're all here: Mother's day. What are our traditions, how important actually is it to our mums, how does the experience of an only child compare to that of the youngest of three? What day is it this year? Mums come under the microscope as we discuss how mums love being rude to their children, calling strangers fat and how they find it kinda funny if their child commits blasphemy or sacrilege at school. Some big breakthroughs happen in this episode: Joe realises that he's an awful son and that society would collapse without mums doing the admin, and Max realises that his brother and sister-in-law are Chinese, and that he doesn't have a curious mind. Plus, we finally decide whether Jane or Meriel would win in a fight, and Max reveals his Rodney Dangerfield impression.Capybara experience: https://themeadowswildlifepark.co.uk/product/capybara-encounter/Got a dad story for us? If you found Atlantis there, would you come back to dry land or stay down there with your new mermaid wife? Joe breaks into a Morrissey impression as we reflect on a now-defunct (or should I say, de-FUNKED) comedy night that was invaded by a fourteen-piece jazz-funk band fundraising for a yoga charity. 13. 'Heirs To The Jelly Throne' - Friends in a Dad's World
What are friends to dads? A scientist once said that "men over 50 only have like, 2 friends." In this episode, we find out whether or not this is true, by examining our dads' various friendships throughout the years. From Alvin's reluctant palling around with a shirtless sofa salesman and a swimming instructor who spear-tackled an old woman, to Kev's glory days with the 'king of the plumbers' and a man who used to wear a McDonald's uniform to play golf. We also look at tales from the current friend rosters of our dads - Alvin attending a gay wedding and exchanging memes with a naughty vicar, Kev getting free tickets to watch the Newport-Gwent Dragons in the royal box (which is more of a hut, really). Finally, we explore the concept of having friends as a dad - do all dads meet their friends through their wives' friends? Do you have much of a choice who you're friends with as a parent? Will we still have as many friends when we're dads? Also, Joe gets on a roll at one point with a couple of "jokes." We also chat about the story of a dad who gifted his son a box of balls, why parents take forever to take a photo, and finally Joe recounts the story of his New Year’s Eve ordeal of showing up to previous guest dad John Hampshire’s house with a poopy shoe.Got a dad story for us?Email: [email protected]Everything Else: https://linktr.ee/dadtouchpodLogo design: Alice Evans (@Alicewithapen)Music by: Gino Dadadad podcast | comedy podcast UK | Welsh comedians | father son relationships | dad affection | family comedy | men’s mental health | embarrassing stories | PE Teachers | funny dad stories | British comedy podcast | emotional dads | dad touch podcast | new years | Tap on Tap off | Slapchop

We talk M.A.M.I.Ls, why dads always have all the gear and no idea, and recount Austin’s days as a child shooting protégé; complete with his own little tweedy outfit. We also rant about the insanity of organised running events that ruin the city, the impossibility of finding a decent parking space in Swansea city centre, and discuss whether Joe really did run over a pigeon in his car live on a call with Max.
