Why Make Music…

I’ve been making music for the majority of my life, driven by the melodies and rhythms I hear in my mind and my desire to bring them to life. Music has always been my primary form of expression, something I create for my own pleasure and to share with friends, never seeking anyone’s approval. I’m self-taught, with my own unique take on music theory. My creations may have their imperfections, but I embrace them as part of my artistic journey.Though I’ve experienced being in a band, I ultimately prefer the solo creation process, relishing the total control it offers. Technology has empowered anyone to manifest their own reality, and I’ve chosen music as mine. My work is available on most streaming platforms and music leasing sites. In this podcast, I aim to showcase my creative side, sharing my thoughts, processes, and opinions on my projects, as well as my respect for music as a whole. I discuss timeless influences and explore the question, “Why make music…”<

Why Make Music… Episode 091 - "Rooting For the Bad Guy (Part Two): What Villains Reveal About Us"

Episode 091 – Rooting For the Bad Guy (Part Two): What Villains Reveal About UsPart Two concludes one of the deepest conversations ever presented on Why Make Music.... After examining why audiences become emotionally attached to fictional villains in Part One, this episode asks a far more difficult question: what does that attraction reveal about us?Across nearly three hours, Willa May explores the psychology behind sympathy, accountability, celebrity, power, culture, politics, storytelling, social media, family dynamics, and the systems that often create the very villains we claim to oppose.Topics include:When understanding becomes justificationWhy charisma can blur accountabilityThe difference between redemption and consequencesHow our favorite villains reveal our own values and blind spotsThe danger of needing a "bad guy" to simplify complicated problemsScapegoats, outrage culture, and social media incentivesPower, institutions, and why systems often outlive individualsWhy attention has become one of society's most valuable currenciesThe relationship between fear, comfort, and cultural changeBuilding a creative life without becoming consumed by itRather than asking who deserves blame, Episode 091 asks a more enduring question: What conditions allow harm to continue, and what responsibility do we each carry in shaping the future? The conversation also reflects on WDMNation MEDIA, independent creativity, AI, business ownership, family, artistic responsibility, and why lasting success requires balancing ambition with humanity. This episode serves as the conclusion to our two-part exploration of villains, morality, storytelling, and human nature—and may ultimately reveal that the most important character in every story has always been the audience.Running Time: 2 Hours 43 MinutesNew Music Release: If I Was Your Producer – Volume 13 is available now. Next week's episode is dedicated entirely to the new release.Presented by WDMNation MEDIA.Hosted by ThinkTimm.Featuring Willa May.

WHY MAKE MUSIC... Episode 90 - "Rooting For The Bad Guy (Part 1): Why We Cheer for Villains"

Why do we sometimes understand, admire, or even cheer for the villain? In Part One of this two-part episode of Why Make Music..., ThinkTimm and Willa May begin exploring the psychology behind our fascination with bad guys, antiheroes, rebels, masterminds, and characters who seem to understand the world differently than everyone around them. The conversation begins by examining why the human mind is naturally drawn toward confidence, rebellion, revenge, intelligence, pain, charisma, and emotional complexity. From there, the discussion expands into mythology, folklore, religion, history, and storytelling, revealing why nearly every culture throughout history has needed a villain to define its heroes. The episode also explores how writers, filmmakers, musicians, and storytellers quietly encourage audiences to emotionally align with the antagonist. Through perspective, context, humor, style, competence, and vulnerability, villains often become some of the most memorable and psychologically fascinating characters ever created.Rather than asking whether villains are good or bad, Part One asks a more interesting question: Why do they resonate with us in the first place? This opening chapter lays the psychological and cultural foundation for a much larger conversation about morality, accountability, storytelling, and human nature.Next week, in Part Two, the discussion turns inward, exploring what our favorite villains reveal about ourselves, how society creates and rewards modern villains, the difference between accountability and spectacle, and why the most dangerous villain may not always be the one standing in front of us.This is more than a conversation about movies or fiction. It is an exploration of psychology, culture, identity, and the stories we tell ourselves about heroes, villains, and the complicated space in between.Peace, and be wild.

Why Make Music… Episode 089 - “Time, As Simple As That”

Episode 89 – Time, As Simple As ThatWhat is time? Is it measured by clocks, calendars, and birthdays, or is it measured by songs, memories, and the moments that define our lives? In Episode 89 of Why Make Music, Willa May takes listeners on a thoughtful journey through the psychology of music, nostalgia, technology, and the remarkable evolution of the music industry over the past half century. From vinyl records, radio request lines, television theme songs, and family stereos to streaming services, artificial intelligence, social media, and global distribution, this episode explores how music has continuously reinvented itself while remaining one of humanity's most powerful emotional time machines.Discover why certain songs instantly transport us back to childhood, why music remains deeply connected to memory, and how recordings become part of our personal history. We also pull back the curtain on today's music business, examining publishing, copyright, sync licensing, independent artistry, and the growing importance of intellectual property in an ever-changing creative economy. This episode also explores the modern role of AI in music, not as a replacement for human creativity, but as another tool in a long history of technological evolution. Along the way, we examine how musical legacies continue through documentaries, biopics, streaming, anniversary releases, and timeless catalogs that keep introducing classic artists to new generations. Most importantly, we revisit the mission behind WDMNation MEDIA: continuing to create opportunities, one song at a time. Out of hundreds of songs, only one may need to become the right placement, the right memory, or the right opportunity to change everything.Because in the end, we're not simply making music. We're building legacy.Thank you for listening, supporting independent creators, and continuing to ask the question...Why Make Music?

Why Make Music… Episode 088 - “Things You Tell Yourself”

Episode 088 – Things You Tell YourselfEvery creative has a roommate. Not the one paying bills. The other one. The voice in your head. The one that shows up when the room gets quiet, when the headphones stay on too long, and when the same sixteen bars have been looping for hours. In Episode 088 of Why Make Music..., Willa May dives deep into the private conversations every artist has with themselves—the dangerous, motivating, self-sabotaging, confidence-building stories that shape everything we create. From creative delusion and self-belief to isolation, perfectionism, technology, AI tools, and the ever-changing structure of the music industry, this episode unpacks how the internal voice affects the external work.Willa explores the philosophies and creative systems of icons like Prince, Quincy Jones, Teddy Riley, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Smokey Robinson, Jack Antonoff, Julia Michaels, Tommy Brown, Billie Eilish, and Finneas, breaking down how belief, systems, and infrastructure have always been part of great art.Topics include:• The psychology of self-talk in creativity• Why every artist has to be a little delusional• Prince’s philosophy on finishing the work• How technology flattened the creative room• Why the music industry sells attention, not music• Sync licensing, publishing, and redefining success• Why you may be chasing the wrong role in music• Building catalogs versus chasing momentsThis episode asks one of the most important questions a creator can face:What do you keep telling yourself that keeps you making it?Because eventually, whatever story you repeat the most... becomes the life you build. Why Make Music... hosted by ThinkTimm.Featuring Willa May.WDMNation Media LLC

WHY MAKE MUSIC… Episode 087 - “Cult Of Personalities”

EPISODE 87: CULT OF PERSONALITIESWhat happens when the artist becomes bigger than the art?In Episode 87 of Why Make Music, Willa May and ThinkTimm pull apart the machinery behind celebrity, branding, mystique, fandom, and the dangerous rise of parasocial devotion. There was a time when artists existed at a distance. Mystery was part of the magic. You heard the records, saw the album covers, maybe caught an interview, and that was enough. But in today’s world, access has replaced mystery, and personality has become product. This episode explores how icons like Prince, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Madonna, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West built, maintained, or became trapped inside the personas they created.Topics include:• The death of artist mystique • How hip-hop turned music into testimony • Parasocial relationships and fan psychology • Why fans believe they “know” artists • Celebrity as religion • Social media as emotional architecture • The burden of always being “on” • Authenticity versus performance • The machine behind modern branding • AI-generated personalities and the future of artistryWe also connect the theme directly to the release of IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER VOL. 12, breaking down songs like:• False Hood (Not Divine) • Villain (Black Hat) • Disciples of the Apostate • Six (Half The Story) • Trolley CarsThese songs became accidental reflections of the episode itself—exploring masks, false prophets, public perception, memory, betrayal, and identity. This week also marks one full year of the IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER series:12 volumes. 120 records. 276 total releases. Not concepts. Not promises.Finished work. This episode asks the bigger question:Are artists building careers… or building cults? And in a world where AI can clone voices, generate faces, and manufacture emotion…what’s left that can’t be copied?Truth. No audience required.Build it anyway.Peace and be wild.#WhyMakeMusic #ThinkTimm #WDMNation #IfIWasYourProducer #Podcast #MusicIndustry #CultOfPersonalities #IndependentArtist #CreativeProcess #MusicBusiness

We all carry things with us every day—not just phones, wallets, keys, and smart devices, but lessons, experiences, skills, memories, relationships, and the tools we've collected throughout our lives.Using the upcoming song Carry It In My Pocket as a starting point, we examine how people build personal toolboxes that help them navigate challenges, pursue opportunities, and adapt to a constantly changing world.Topics include:The hidden value of experience and personal growthHow creators build skill sets over timeThe evolution of music production and creative technologyArtificial intelligence as a tool rather than a replacementWhy new innovations often make people uncomfortableThe psychology of carrying the world's knowledge in your pocketFocus, curiosity, and adapting to changeBuilding a music catalog and long-term creative visionRelationships, networking, and finding the right opportunitiesThe importance of staying prepared when opportunity arrivesWilla May also reflects on the remarkable reality that modern smartphones have become cameras, recording studios, libraries, publishing platforms, navigation systems, communication hubs, and educational resources—all fitting comfortably inside a pocket.Along the way, we touch on current cultural moments, including the NBA Finals, the WNBA's continued growth, summer movie season, nostalgia-driven entertainment, and how great stories continue to connect generations. As always, the conversation circles back to creativity, personal development, and the idea that success often comes from consistently using the tools already available to us.We're also preparing for the June 19, 2026 release of If I Was Your Producer Volume 12, adding another ten original songs to the growing WDMNation Media catalog.Whether you're a musician, entrepreneur, artist, content creator, or simply someone trying to make sense of a rapidly changing world, this episode is a reminder that the most valuable things we carry are often the things nobody else can see.Keep learning. Why Make Music... Episode 085 - "Perception Versus Reality"

Why Make Music... Episode 085: Perception Versus RealityWhat if the biggest difference between success and failure, happiness and disappointment, or even truth and fiction isn't reality itself... but our perception of it?In Episode 085 of Why Make Music..., Willa May takes listeners on a thoughtful journey through music, philosophy, history, social media, creativity, and everyday life to explore the space between what is real and what we believe to be real.Beginning with Plato's famous Cave Allegory, we examine how human beings often mistake shadows for substance and perception for reality. From there, the conversation moves into the world of art and music, where creators release their work into the world only to discover that audiences often find meanings the artist never intended. We discuss the second life of art, the immortality of ideas, and why philosophers such as Plato continue to influence people thousands of years after their deaths. We also explore how travel, geography, culture, and personal experience shape our understanding of reality. The episode takes a closer look at the legacy of Prince and the difference between public perception and private reality. Behind every legend lies years of unseen work, experimentation, failure, and persistence. From there, we dive into social media, artificial intelligence, and modern technology. Are we seeing reality online, or simply curated fragments assembled into stories by our own minds? How much of our self-worth is tied to numbers, followers, views, and assumptions? Finally, Willa May closes the episode with a reflection on gardens, growth, patience, and the invisible roots forming beneath the surface long before anyone notices the bloom.Topics Include:Perception versus realityPlato's CaveMusic and audience interpretationThe second life of artPhilosophy and legacyPrince and creative obsessionSocial media and digital identityArtificial intelligence and creativityPersonal growth and invisible progressThe garden metaphor for life and artSometimes the most important things happening in our lives are taking place beneath the surface, long before anyone sees them.ThinkTimm. Why Make Music... Episode 084 – "Question, Are We..."In Episode 084, Willa May takes a thoughtful look at one of the biggest questions facing creators, consumers, and society today: Are we truly against technology, or are we simply uncomfortable with change? From artificial intelligence and music production to social media outrage and modern consumer behavior, this episode explores how people often embrace technology while simultaneously criticizing it. Is authenticity really disappearing, or are we confusing authenticity with familiarity?Along the way, Willa May reflects on the continued growth of WDMNation MEDIA, including the organic success of If I Was Your Producer Vol. 11, which surpassed 5,000 SoundCloud streams in just seven days without paid promotion. The episode also touches on ongoing outreach to music supervisors, sync licensing opportunities, catalog organization, metadata management, and the realities of building a creative business one step at a time.Topics include:Technology versus authenticity in music and media. The difference between familiarity and genuine artistic expression. The Law of Attraction as preparation, awareness, and intentional living.Fear, economics, AI, and adapting to technological change.Social media outrage culture and the rise of echo chambers.Dreams, subconscious creativity, and the human brain as the ultimate technology.Personal responsibility, mindset, and creating structure in a chaotic world.Rather than offering simple answers, Episode 084 encourages listeners to ask better questions, think critically, and remain curious as technology, creativity, and culture continue to evolve.Thank you to everyone streaming the music, listening to the podcast, supporting WDMNation MEDIA, connecting with us on LinkedIn, and following the journey as we continue building toward sync licensing opportunities and future creative projects.WDMNation MEDIAOriginal Music • Podcasting • Creative Media • Sync LicensingStructure Over Chaos.Dumb Folks Have Done It.Peace. Why Make Music… Episode 083 - “Practice, Not The Game”

Episode 083 – Practice, Not The GameWhat happens when creativity becomes a habit instead of a performance? In this episode of Why Make Music..., DJ Warm Cookies (Willa May) explores the often invisible side of artistic creation—the repetition, discipline, persistence, and belief required to keep building when nobody is watching.Inspired by Allen Iverson's famous "Practice?" press conference and the release of If I Was Your Producer Vol. 11, Willa May examines why creators frequently become trapped by metrics, validation, and public perception while overlooking the value of the work itself.Topics include:The misunderstood legacy of Allen IversonWhy consistency matters more than motivationThe tyranny of measurement in the social media eraThe difference between being seen and being understoodCreative output versus audience sizeThe psychology of persistenceThe myth of finally "arriving"Why practice may actually be the gameThe episode also celebrates the release of If I Was Your Producer Vol. 11, marking eleven consecutive months of original music releases from ThinkTimm and WDMN MEDIA.Later, ThinkTimm makes a surprise appearance to reflect on creativity, gratitude, independent artistry, social media, podcasting, music production, and the importance of continuing to create even when the results aren't immediately visible.Whether you're a musician, writer, entrepreneur, artist, dreamer, or simply someone trying to build something meaningful, this episode is a reminder that progress is often happening long before the world notices.Practice. Why Make Music... Episode 081 - "Let The Music Speak"

This week on Why Make Music…, Willa May and WDMNation MEDIA take a different approach. No giant lecture. No deep industry breakdown. No long-form manifesto.Instead… we let the music speak.Episode 081 transforms into a late-night underground radio broadcast featuring multiple genres from the WDMNation MEDIA catalog including funk, folk-funk, indie bedroom pop, spoken word, hip-hop, R&B, atmospheric ballads, and melodic crossover records. Why Make Music… Episode 080 - “The Business Of Music”

Why Make Music… Episode 080 – “The Business Of Music”This episode steps into the machinery behind the music—the part most creatives avoid until it becomes impossible to ignore. Inspired by the classic industry guide This Business of Music, Willa May traces the evolution of the music business from demo tapes, record labels, vinyl, cassettes, and compact discs to peer-to-peer sharing, streaming platforms, digital audio workstations, AI-assisted production, avatar performers, and the new attention economy. The central question is simple but heavy: music has always been a business, but do artists understand the business they are currently standing in?Episode 080 explores how the old gatekeepers did not disappear—they changed shape. Labels once controlled access. Now platforms, algorithms, data, and audience behavior decide what gets seen, heard, recommended, buried, or monetized. The tools became easier, but the business became faster, smarter, and more competitive.Willa May also reflects on ownership in the modern era: masters, publishing, metadata, voice, likeness, style, identity, and the growing need for artists to protect not only their songs, but the entire creative ecosystem around them. This episode also revisits the rise of AI-generated artists, synthetic charts, proprietary ranking systems, and the strange new world where algorithmic creation and algorithmic measurement can begin talking to each other. From there, the conversation moves into V-tubers, avatars, alternative platforms, and the possibilities—and risks—of extending a creative brand through digital characters.Back at WDMNation MEDIA headquarters, ThinkTimm and the team continue building with intention: releasing April Afternoon, moving forward with If I Was Your Producer Volume 10, developing sync relationships, and strengthening the one-stop catalog for future placement opportunities. The episode also includes a cultural reflection on Billie Eilish’s 3D concert film experience, performance stamina, visual storytelling, and the importance of respecting artists for their talent rather than image. From the book to now, from the studio to the algorithm, from physical records to artificial intelligence, Episode 080 brings the whole conversation home:The tools changed. The platforms changed. But the truth did not. Music has always been a business. The only question is—do you understand the one you are in?Tags: music business, music industry, AI music, independent artist, sync licensing, WDMNation MEDIA, ThinkTimm, Willa May, DJ Warm Cookies, music ownership, artist rights, streaming, artificial intelligence, music technology, creative business, one-stop catalog, music publishing, music production, Why Make Music

From there, the conversation moves into deeper territory—examining creativity as a form of mental organization, emotional release, and long-term documentation.Rather than focusing on audience response, this episode centers on process: the weekly act of clearing the mind, shaping ideas, and continuing forward whether anyone is watching or not.Volume 10 is acknowledged not as a promotional milestone, but as evidence of a system in motion—ten songs built from consistent decisions, spanning multiple emotional perspectives and timelines. The episode also reflects on the 10-year mark since the passing of Prince, recognizing the lasting impact of consistent creative output and the value of leaving behind meaningful work.At its core, Episode 079 is about presence over performance, intention over perception, and the quiet understanding that the work itself holds value—regardless of when or how it is discovered.Key Themes:Consistency over recognitionCreation as therapy and processLong-term catalog buildingIdentity and creative independenceLegacy through sustained output“Some people celebrate moments… we document momentum.”Search ThinkTimm. Why Make Music… Episode 076 - “Structure Over Chaos (Part 1)”

Why Make Music… Episode 076 — “Structure Over Chaos (Part 1)”What if the problem isn’t your creativity… but your lack of structure? In this episode of Why Make Music…, we break down one of the most overlooked truths in the creative process:You don’t need more ideas. You need more structure.Every creative journey starts in chaos—raw ideas, unfinished tracks, scattered thoughts, endless possibilities. But chaos is only the beginning. Without structure, nothing gets finished, nothing gets released, and nothing truly moves. This episode dives into:• Why creativity begins in chaos but must be shaped to become real • How structure turns ideas into usable, functional work • The disconnect between creators and outsiders observing the process • Why “good” is often influenced by exposure, not just quality • How oversaturation makes structure more important than ever In today’s world, creation is easy—but attention is limited. That means simply making something isn’t enough anymore. Your work has to be organized, intentional, and positioned to connect. This is not about doing more. This is about making what you already have make sense. This is Part 1 of a larger conversation. Because once you understand structure… the next step is learning how your work moves, connects, and creates opportunity.---Shout Outs: WDMNation MEDIA Uncle E Code 3 Records ---Key Takeaway: You don’t need another idea. Why Make Music — Episode 075: “Universal Complexity”What if the hardest part of making music… isn’t making the music at all?In this episode, we go deeper than surface-level creativity and break down the real system behind the process—the part most people never talk about. From watching the industry at its highest levels, to navigating the invisible pressure of daily creation, to dealing with forms, codes, and the friction that slows artists down… this is the full picture. This isn’t just about music. This is about systems, positioning, and understanding how everything connects—even when it doesn’t make sense in the moment. We explore:The difference between creating and positioningWhy complexity feels like resistance—but is actually structureHow small actions create massive outcomes over timeThe hidden pressure of building a catalog vs chasing momentsWhy most artists get stuck (and how to move past it)Strategic positioning and why platforms like LinkedIn matterIf you’ve ever felt like you’re doing everything right—but nothing is moving… this episode will shift how you see the entire process.Universal Complexity isn’t something to fight. It’s something to understand… and move within.🎧 Stream the catalog on all major platforms📲 Follow the movement:Instagram | Blue Sky | YouTube | TikTokWDMNation MEDIAWe don’t just create. Why Make Music… Episode 074 - “Important To Be You”

Why Make Music… Episode 074 – “Important To Be You”In Episode 074, Willa May delivers a powerful, reflective, and unapologetically honest exploration of identity, authenticity, and personal agency. This episode centers on a simple but often overlooked truth: you are the most important factor in your own journey.Through personal reflection and the perspective of ThinkTimm and WDMN MEDIA, this episode challenges the idea that we must become different versions of ourselves depending on environment, relationships, or expectations. Instead, it introduces a stronger concept — integration over fragmentation — being one consistent self across all spaces, while still growing and evolving.Willa May also dives into a recent episode of The Diary of a CEO featuring Chase Hughes, breaking down concepts like Perception, Context, and Permission in human behavior and influence. The discussion questions whether people truly operate as “three different selves,” or if that idea oversimplifies the complexity of identity. The episode expands into broader conversations about independence, personal responsibility, and generational experiences — including the impact of growing up with freedom, accountability, and self-reliance.Beyond philosophy, Episode 074 connects these ideas to real-world movement and progress, including a breakdown of the WNBA’s new collective bargaining agreement, highlighting growth, equity, and the importance of valuing one’s worth. The conversation also explores the evolving world of AI-generated music and emerging platforms like the Sonic Intelligence Academy charts, raising questions about legitimacy, opportunity, and how independent creators can position themselves in a rapidly changing landscape.Featured throughout the episode is music from “IF IN WAS YOUR PRODUCER VOL. 9” by ThinkTimm — a ten-track project showcasing growth, emotional range, and continued creative evolution within the WDMN MEDIA catalog. This episode is not about chasing validation. It’s about building something real. It’s about consistency, responsibility, and staying true to yourself — even when no one is watching.Stream the music. Why Make Music… Episode 073 - “You Have to Follow the Money”

Why Make Music… Episode 073: “You Have to Follow the Money”In Episode 073, DJ Warm Cookies aka Willa May takes a sharp, human, and humorous deep dive into the financial realities of the modern music industry. This week’s conversation breaks down how money actually moves through music—through masters, publishing, streaming, licensing, branding, catalogs, metadata, and ownership—and why independent creators can no longer afford to ignore the business side of their art. This episode explores a central truth: making music is one thing, but building systems around your music is where long-term opportunity begins. Willa May talks about how artists make their first dollar, then grow by expanding into brand partnerships, touring, merchandise, production, catalog control, and media presence. From Prince’s battle with Warner Bros. to today’s streaming economy, the message is clear: if you want to survive creatively, you have to understand who owns what and who gets paid.Willa also reflects on the changing media landscape, artist ownership, platform power, and the rise of catalog value in today’s business climate. Why Make Music… Episode 072 - “The Tip Of The Iceberg”

Why Make Music… Episode 072 — “The Tip Of The Iceberg”In this episode of Why Make Music…, host Willa May (DJ Warm Cookies) explores a powerful metaphor for modern independent creativity: the iceberg. From the surface, a song, a podcast episode, or a short video clip may seem like a small creative moment. But beneath that visible tip lies something much larger — a full creative system built through discipline, repetition, and long-term vision.Episode 072 dives into the philosophy behind WDMN MEDIA and the catalog-building strategy behind the IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER… music series. With new volumes released monthly, the project is steadily growing into a deep, one-stop production catalog designed for music supervisors, sync licensing opportunities, and artists looking for ready-to-record material.Willa May also breaks down the realities of today’s music economy — including the limitations of streaming revenue and the growing importance of sync licensing for television, film, advertising, gaming, and digital media. The episode addresses the ongoing conversation around Artificial Intelligence in music production, framing AI as a tool that helps creators present ideas, much like traditional songwriter demos used throughout music history.Listeners will also hear shoutouts to the team helping keep the catalog organized and protected, including Code 3 Records, who are assisting with metadata management and catalog preparation.Other topics in this episode include:The discipline required to build a large independent catalogWhy being a “one-stop” creator matters for sync placementsThe evolving role of technology in music productionThe difference between chasing attention and building infrastructureUpdates from the IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER… seriesA quick sports check-in on the Unrivaled basketball finalsIf you enjoy thoughtful conversations about creativity, ownership, music production, and the future of independent artistry, this episode is for you.Follow WDMN MEDIA:Instagram: ThinkTimm / WDMN MEDIABlue Sky: ThinkTimmMerch: TeePublic & ThreadlessMusic Series:IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER… Volumes 1–8 available now on all streaming platforms.Volume 9 arriving March 20, 2026.Thank you to everyone streaming, sharing, and supporting the journey.Peace and be wild.

Why Make Music… Episode 071: No One Person Is An IslandHost Willa May and co-host ThinkTimm pull back the curtain on what it really takes to keep independent music + media moving: family schedules, creative momentum, and the systems behind the art. Inspired by John Donne’s “No man is an island,” this episode is a grounded conversation about interconnectedness—at home, online, and in the music economy. We talk streaming realities (growth + complexity), direct-to-fan thinking, and why “ethical AI” isn’t a slogan—it’s a workflow built on consent, transparency, and human authorship guiding the tools.Host: Willa May Co-host: ThinkTimm New music always coming—without turning honest work into marketing noise The invisible infrastructure: research, scripting, metadata, and back-end coordination Preproduction throwbacks: cassette-era ideas (1987–1989) feeding future volumes AI in the pipeline: excitement, boundaries, and why policies are tightening Why community (family + collaborators + listeners) is part of the craftMusic breaks: This episode includes music interludes between segments.Shoutouts: Instagram">https://www.instagram.com/">Instagram • Bluesky">https://bsky.app/">Bluesky • LinkedIn">https://www.linkedin.com/">LinkedIn • Merch via T-Public">https://www.teepublic.com/">T-Public + Threadless">https://www.threadless.com/">Threadless • Back-end support with Code 3 Records.CTA: Subscribe for the next episode, follow the socials, and support the mission through merch.

Why Make Music… Episode 070 - “This Is A Process”

Why Make Music… Episode 070 – “This Is A Process”Episode 70 marks a major milestone for WDMNation MEDIA. Seventy consecutive weeks of showing up, building, refining, and documenting the journey of an independent creative household determined to do things the right way — not the loud way. This week’s episode centers around the release of “If I Was Your Producer – Volume 8” (February 20, 2026). Ten brand-new tracks. Eighty songs in eight months. Not random drops — structured catalog building. Each song written, revised, registered, and strategically positioned for potential sync placement.Willa May breaks down the philosophy behind the project: why volume matters, why revision matters even more, and how human decision-making separates real artistry from button-pushing. A recent six-to-seven-pass rewrite becomes the thesis of the episode — excellence is not accidental, it is refined. The show dives deep into:How major label consolidation (UMG acquiring Downtown, Sony acquiring AWAL, infrastructure shifts across distribution) is reshaping the independent landscape. The reality of streaming economics — streamshare models, payout pools, and why “per stream” thinking is flawed.Mechanical royalties, SoundExchange splits, publishing registration, and why clean metadata and ISRC/ISWC alignment matter.AI’s evolving role in music creation and copyright law — tools vs authorship, revision as proof of human intent.One-stop sync strategy, clean edits vs branded versions, and how preparation removes friction for supervisors.Beyond music business, the episode expands into culture and infrastructure:Unrivaled League’s 1-on-1 tournament (Chelsea Gray’s $200K win), current standings, and playoff expansion.NBA All-Star Weekend format changes, Damian Lillard’s three-point victory, and evolving fan engagement.Theatrical expansion with The Mandalorian & Grogu (May 22, 2026), franchise compounding, and what blockbuster economics teach independents.AI video acceleration (Seedance 2.0) and the future of visual storytelling.Super Bowl ad economics and the measurable value of attention.Throughout the episode, Willa May ties everything back to one principle:Process over panic. Infrastructure over impulse. Ownership over hype. With over 300 songs written, Volume 33 whispering in the background, BMI publishing aligned, and Code 3 Records ensuring metadata precision, this isn’t a viral chase — it’s a compounding blueprint. If you are an independent creator navigating streaming, AI, consolidation, and cultural overload, Episode 70 is a masterclass in calm, structure, and long-game thinking. This is not about blowing up.This is about building correctly.Welcome to Episode 70.This is a process.

Why Make Music… Episode 066 — “Supposed to Be Seven”This episode was never supposed to exist in this form. When the If I Was Your Producer series began, the plan was simple: seven volumes, ten tracks each, a contained creative statement. But momentum has a way of rewriting plans. In Episode 066, Willa May (DJ Warm Cookies) takes the mic solo and reflects on how seven became thirty, how a music series turned into infrastructure, and how WDMN MEDIA evolved from an idea into a system that refuses to stop creating. This episode weaves together multiple threads: The release of If I Was Your Producer — Volume Seven, now streaming on all platforms The psychology of long-form creation and building a catalog instead of chasing moments A clear-eyed discussion on why streaming alone isn’t sustainable for independent artists A breakdown of sync licensing and why ownership, metadata, and preparation matter A grounded perspective on AI as a creative tool — not a replacement — in modern music-making A personal reflection on Prince’s early brilliance and what it means to know who you are A cultural detour through WNBA equity, women’s basketball, and the rise of player-centered leagues Episode 66 as a metaphorical “Order 66” — and why independent creators survive by adaptingThis is not a hype episode. Why Make Music... Episode 058 - "Once Upon A Time "

Why Make Music… Episode 058 – “Once Upon a Time”In this supersized chapter, DJ Warm Cookies (aka Willa May) pulls you into a living myth: the origin story of WDMN MEDIA, ThinkTimm, and the Why Make Music… universe – told like a modern fairy tale laced with funk, folklore, hip-hop, and heart. We start in the real world: AI artists topping charts, virtual avatars inking million-dollar deals, and WDMN MEDIA grinding to get IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER – Volume 4 over the finish line for a Friday, November 21st release. Visuals are loading, metadata is humming, and somewhere in the background a real human heart is ticking at 203 BPM saying, “I will not lose.”From there, Willa shifts into story mode and walks you through a full-on hero’s journey: A young, unnamed musician raised by a wall of sonic ghosts – Prince, Dylan, Marley, Clinton, Badu, D’Angelo, Taylor, Billie, The Roots, The Neptunes, and more. A purple-lit encounter with Prince that hands her a glyph-marked guitar pick and the courage to step into the spotlight. A golden “Pantheon Corridor” where funk gods, jazz legends, pop architects, and producer masterminds flicker through her reflection like a thousand faces she’s quietly carrying. Guidance from Bob Dylan on honesty, boundaries, and bleeding just enough truth into the music. A city trial straight out of a Spike Lee frame, where one impromptu protest song turns chaos into community and gives birth to the name “Timm.” A dangerous crossroads deal with a slick devil in a white suit and a haunted jukebox – and the decision to smash the enchanted guitar and keep her soul. A terrifying dark night of the soul, followed by a sunrise conversation with Bob Marley about fear, faith, and “redemption song” as internal liberation. The return home, the writing of a new anthem, and an open-mic performance that proves her myth has real-world impact.By the end, Willa ties the story back to now: WDMN MEDIA as the latest chapter in a long creative bloodline; Timm as a fluid, evolving persona shaped by a thousand influences; and this entire project as both shield and mirror – revealing just enough while protecting what must remain unseen. If you’re a producer, songwriter, artist, or just a human trying to build something that lasts in an age of algorithms, this episode is part bedtime story, part war cry, part love letter to the work.Mentions & Themes: AI artists & Xania Monet, chart disruption, sync ambitions, IF I WAS YOUR PRODUCER – Volume 4, visual storytelling, creative lineage, gender-fluid myth-making, mental health, “we will not lose” energy.Follow & Support:Instagram: @thinktimm @wdmnationmedia @wdmnation @djwarmcookies @whymakemusic @lowerlevelcollectionsMerch: TeePublic.com & Threadless.com (search “ThinkTimm” or “WDMN MEDIA”)Listen in, lean forward, and remember: hear the truth in the voice… but the rest of the soul stays off the table.

Willa May opens with reflections on productivity, sync-licensing wins, and the momentum behind If I Was Your Producer Vol. 4, now streaming everywhere. She gives an inside look at Think Timm’s independent catalog, the partnerships with Code 3 Records, Bodega Sync, Hallwood Media, Evolution Music Partners, and Marmoset Music, and reminds us that we’re building foundation, not chasing fame. Then we dive into two unforgettable Philadelphia concerts—Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour” and Laufey’s “A Matter of Time Tour”—two different styles, one shared heartbeat. Willa traces the history and production of both artists, from bedroom beginnings to arena innovation, and shows how introspection has become the new rebellion.Next up: “How We Make the Cookies.” A deep look at the technology reshaping music production in 2025—Logic Pro 11 Session Players, FL Studio Gopher, Ableton 12.3 AI stems, Auto-Tune Pro 11, iZotope RX 11 and Ozone 12—plus the philosophy that tools don’t make taste. AI is an assistant, not a replacement; we’re not fighting the future—we’re composing it.From soundboards to shelves, the episode tours Lower Level Collections—a museum of Star Wars, Marvel and G.I. Joe memorabilia turned family bonding project—and hits the weekly sports round-up: Sixers soaring, Lakers steady, Aces dynastic, Eagles on bye, Flyers flying.Segment Seven, “Brains, Brands & Bots,” breaks down WDMN’s AI-driven marketing strategy: virtual models for merch, short-form content tactics from Adley Kinsman (Viralish) and Alicia Lyttle (The Queen of AI), and the truth that it’s not about the algorithm—it’s about the imagination we feed into it.Finally, Willa May closes with gratitude and a garden metaphor: plan, plant, water, harvest. Each episode is a seed; each listener helps it bloom. She shares the story of Paul Amadeus Dienach—the man who claimed to wake in the year 3906 A.D.—as a reminder that our choices now shape the future others will inherit.Listen now and stream “If I Was Your Producer” Volumes 1–4 on all platforms.Follow @ThinkTimm @DJWarmCookies @WhyMakeMusicPodcast and visit WDMNMedia.com">https://www.WDMNMedia.com">WDMNMedia.com for news, merch and Lower Level Collections updates.Remember — Think Timm, if nothing else. Why Make Music... Episode 055 - “Your Producer Volume 4”

Why Make Music… Episode 055 — “Your Producer · Volume 4” In this 80-minute masterclass-meets-monologue, DJ Warm Cookies / Willa May welcomes listeners back to the garden of WDMN MEDIA for a full-circle celebration of independent creativity. Ten new songs arrive with the release of If I Was Your Producer — Volume 4, and this episode opens every door: the music, the business, the sanity, the gratitude, and the legacy that hold the whole thing together. From the first hello to the final fade, Willa guides you through the heartbeat of independence—how one artist, Think Timm, built a system that turns ideas into finished work every month. She explains how the Why Make Music… podcast became a living documentary of persistence: a slow-cooked story about staying prolific without burning out. Listeners get a front-row seat to release-day energy, a song-by-song walkthrough of Volume 4, and the larger blueprint behind the growing twenty-plus-volume catalog already written into 2027. Segment 1 celebrates the ten new tracks—social commentary, love songs, funk meditations, and poetic pop—each one a lesson in sound and self-discipline. Segment 2 reveals the system behind the art: the monthly cadence, the vault, and the mantra “practice over panic.” Code 3 Records earns its flowers for handling the invisible architecture of metadata and splits that turn passion into paycheck. Segment 3 looks ahead—creative forecasting, emotional continuity, and why being “over-productive” just means being prepared. Segment 4 crosses the Business Bridge: what metadata really is, how split sheets save friendships, and why being indie doesn’t mean being unarmed. Willa turns contracts into compassion and proves that business is rhythm written in numbers. In Segment 5 the show steps into Sync World—the universe where songs become scenes, commercials, and cultural memories. Willa breaks down synchronization for first-timers, from $80 k Rolling Stones placements to the indie reality of catalog readiness. Music becomes emotion on demand, and diversity becomes currency. Then the pace slows for Segment 6, Mind & Maintenance—a meditation on the human side of making music and staying sane. Creativity, she reminds us, is a laboratory built over a volcano: repetition as revelation, practice as therapy, art as survival. Segment 7 finds its center in Gratitude & Grounding. Willa talks about belief without bragging, faith in the Force, and thanking yourself as much as the people around you. Technology becomes a modern thank-you note, a tool that keeps art democratic and alive. Segment 8 widens into Longevity & Legacy—how to build work that outlives you. From preschool art still hanging on the wall to digital archives of eighty-thousand family photos, legacy is redefined as “shade you’ll never sit under, grown from seeds you still decided to plant.” Finally, in The Garden, Willa closes with a reminder that creativity is agriculture for the soul: plant, water, prune, forgive, repeat. Gratitude is watering, sanity is weeding, longevity is trusting the roots. She thanks the full ecosystem—Think Timm, WDMN MEDIA, Damn Nation, DJ Warm Cookies, the listeners—and rolls out where to find it all: streaming platforms,

Why Make Music... Episode 052 - "Why Does Technology Get a Bad Rap?”

Why Make Music… Episode 052 – “Why Does Technology Get a Bad Rap?”Welcome back to Why Make Music… with your host Willa May (aka DJ Warm Cookies). In this episode we take a deep dive into technology’s role in music—why it sometimes gets a “bad rap,” and why independent creators like ThinkTimm and WDMN MEDIA see it as a lifeline rather than a threat. From growing up surrounded by live instruments in the 1980s, to recording rough demos on cassette decks, to embracing drum machines, synths, DAWs, and now AI-powered tools like Suno v5, this episode is all about perspective: each new wave of tech has been met with skepticism, but for indie producers, it’s opened doors and removed barriers.Topics this week include: The personal journey from analog instruments to digital audio workstations (DAWs). Why new tools (drum machines, Auto-Tune, AI) often face backlash—and why the fear usually fades. How WDMN MEDIA uses Suno AI as a tool (not a ghostwriter), creating vocal prompts, harmonies, and remixes of original material while protecting human authorship. The business side: LLC formation, deductions, startup cost amortization, and how taxes actually work—broken down simply (“tell me like I’m 2”). The weekly WDMN Media Dispatch: Batman Day highlights, Superman streaming, Peacemaker’s run, a new Mandalorian/Grogu trailer for May 2026, Taylor Swift’s variant vinyl rollout, Sabrina Carpenter’s “not country enough” chatter, Prince estate reissues, Law & Order’s return, WNBA playoffs, Jimmy Kimmel, and the Philadelphia Eagles’ undefeated start.Shoutouts:- If I Was Your Producer Vol. 3 is out now! We’re already moving into Volume 18 and beyond.- Big love to Code3 Records for their guidance and support.Takeaways:Technology doesn’t erase the human in music—it extends it. Deductions don’t put money in your pocket—they stop money from leaving. And indie artists thrive when they embrace both sides: the creative tools and the business foundations. Why Make Music… is powered by ThinkTimm and WDMN MEDIA. Is time a rigid reality, or is it something humans invented to keep our trains (and our lives) running on schedule? From Einstein’s theory of relativity to the blissful “flow states” that make hours vanish in the studio, Willa May explores how time bends, stretches, and sometimes disappears entirely when you’re doing what you love. We break down:The origins of standardized time and how technology made it meaningfulWhy creatives lose themselves in their work and forget the clockHow scheduling can both help and hurt creativityThe strange duality of “not enough time” vs. “all the time in the world”Why rest is as important to creation as work itselfThinkTimm joins in to talk about If I Was Your Producer: Volume Two — dropping August 22 — and shares ten brand-new tracks, marking another milestone on the road to 100 completed songs in the WDMN catalog. ABOUT THIS SHOW
