Wongutha Stories Podcast

Welcome to the Wongutha Stories podcast series. This podcast series is hosted by current Wongutha students who yarn with former students of Wongutha about their stories, experiences, and education journeys. We hear about their experiences of Wongutha, their transition to work after school, and what strengths they draw from in achieving their goals. The design featured in the podcast image was part of exploring stories and young people's journeys from their communities to Wongutha. Led by Gaye Graham (teacher at Wongutha), a group of young people developed designs to represent their stories and journeys. These were then brought together by Elaine Chambers from Cultural Edge Designs to represent the stories of young people from Wongutha. This design is now used on the Wongutha school shirt as well as the representation of the podcast series.     Season Three, Episode One: Wadjareckon crew

    Welcome to the third and final season of the Wongutha Stories podcast series. In this final season, every podcast starts with an Acknowledgement of Country by current Wongutha student at the time of recording, Micheesha. The intro and outro music is taken from the song Eternity, written and performed by the Wongutha students a few years ago.In the first episode, Shyeri, Sahalia, Cameron, Jonelle, and Pedro - the young people who participated in the development of the podcasts and Wadjareckon app - yarn about the project and what the app is about. The app is for all Aboriginal young people to help them prepare for and manage life after school. It is free and easy to use: go to the website  (https://www.wadjareckon.com/)  and save an icon to your mobile phone home screen to open whenever you need (access to the Internet is required). In the following episodes, current Wongutha students yarn with former students of Wongutha Gary, Carmen, Keith, and Paul about their schooling and post-school experiences. In the final part of the season, the project team and Wongutha Principal and teachers look back at how it all started and how the project developed.We hope you enjoy the final season of the Wongutha Stories podcast series.  If you like what you hear, please leave us a rating and review.

We hear about their experiences of Wongutha, their transition to work after school, and what strengths they draw from in achieving their goals.The introduction to this podcast includes a welcome from Uncle Harry Graham (in podcast image), an Elder from Esperance who works at Wongutha CAPS. We also hear from Emily (a former boarding staff member) and Kirsty, one of last year's Wongutha students who wrote the song that features as the introduction music to the podcast. The song is significant because it's by the young people of Wongutha about their journeys from the 'desert to the sea' (from where their home communities are located to the school near the ocean).
