Sometimes you can know exactly who is going to win and still sit back and enjoy the hell out of the match. Roman Reigns wrestling Penta was something we haven't seen before, and that alone made this feel special. The chemistry, the atmosphere, the unique matchup, and the way both guys delivered made this one of the highlights of the night. Penta got to step into the ring with one of WWE's biggest stars, and Roman got a completely different opponent in a match that felt fresh and different. Sami Zayn beats CM Punk! WWE SmackDown I honestly cannot believe what happened tonight. Sami Zayn defeated CM Punk and became the new Undisputed WWE Champion, and that was just one part of what made this such an incredible SmackDown. From the opening of the show all the way to the end, WWE kept giving us things to talk about. There were great matches, big moments, surprises, and storylines that actually felt like they were moving forward. I honestly don't know how AEW managed to pull this off. Last night's Rebel Heart Dynamite was one of the best tribute shows I've ever watched. AEW honored Rebel, brought much-needed awareness to ALS, and gave fans some incredibly emotional moments with Rebel and Britt Baker — all while still putting on a genuinely great wrestling show. And then there was the heartbreaking tribute to The Butcher, Andy Williams, who passed away just days ago. AEW found a way to acknowledge that loss without allowing the entire show to become depressing. Instead, they celebrated the people involved and kept the wrestling moving. We also got Britt Baker's return to the ring, Steven Borden's AEW television debut with Darby Allin, Will Ospreay vs. David Finlay, Andrade vs. Beast Mortos, Swerve & The New Level vs. The Conglomeration, Thekla confronting Mercedes Moné and Willow Nightingale, and the Young Bucks vs. Kyle Fletcher & Kevin Knight in a Tables Match. And I have to give a huge shout-out to Tony Khan and AEW. Whatever your opinion of AEW is, Tony didn't have to turn a major television show into something this meaningful. He didn't have to put the spotlight on ALS awareness or give Rebel this kind of platform. But he did — and I think AEW deserves enormous credit for it. This wasn't just a great tribute show. It was a great episode of Dynamite. Jacob Fatu used to be ALL GAS. Now WWE has him ALL BRAKES. That’s the problem. Since becoming part of The Bloodline, Fatu feels like a completely different character. The wild, unpredictable, out-of-control Jacob Fatu we knew is slowly disappearing, and now he's becoming the voice of reason. On this week's Raw, Jey and Jimmy Uso wanted revenge on 946, and instead of Jacob Fatu being the one ready to tear somebody apart, he was telling them to stay calm, think strategically and not fall into a trap. And that's exactly backwards for the character WWE built. Jacob Fatu shouldn't be the calmest guy in the room. He should be the hothead. He should be the loose cannon. He should be the guy the Usos have to hold BACK. Losing to Roman Reigns isn't the problem. The problem is that WWE seems to be sanding down everything that made Jacob Fatu so damn dangerous in the first place. Somehow, WWE managed to make a night featuring The Vision, Oba Femi, Jacob Fatu, The Usos, Royce Keys and OTM feel anticlimactic. That is the biggest problem I had with tonight’s Monday Night Raw. The Vision is back together after Bronson Reed’s return, and they immediately made their presence felt by taking out Oba Femi. After what happened with Femi and Bron Breakker, this should feel like the beginning of something huge. Instead, WWE keeps giving us big moments without giving the stories the momentum they need. Then we get Jacob Fatu, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso dealing with Royce Keys and OTM, with that entire situation continuing to escalate. There are some great characters here, but the execution is leaving me wanting more. Add in Liv Morgan, Stephanie Vaquer, Bron Breakker, Sol Ruca and the rest of the Money in the Bank stories, and Raw had plenty happening tonight. The problem isn't a lack of talent. It's the storytelling. WWE has the characters and the pieces to make these stories great. So why did tonight feel so… anticlimactic? WWE SmackDown August 28, 2026 was awful. This is my full WWE SmackDown review, and honestly, I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed with an episode of SmackDown. Tonight's show had plenty of big names and storylines, including Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton continuing their heated feud, CM Punk and Kevin Owens dealing with the fallout from last week's chaos, and a Triple Threat involving Kevin Owens, GUNTHER and Finn Bálor. But for me, the show completely failed to deliver. The Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton segment especially left me frustrated. With the two under a no-contact stipulation before their upcoming match, the confrontation built toward something that never really paid off. Then the main event ended in more interference and another non-finish, with Sami Zayn getting involved and CM Punk appearing afterward. There’s been plenty of negativity surrounding WWE lately, so today I want to do something a little different: let’s talk about what WWE is actually getting RIGHT. I’m not saying everything is perfect, and there are still plenty of issues worth criticizing. But there have been some genuinely positive creative decisions lately that deserve to be acknowledged. From the evolving Bloodline story and Sami Zayn to Kevin Owens and CM Punk, WWE’s main-event picture has started to feel a lot more interesting. Cody Rhodes being out of the immediate championship chase has opened up room for other stories, while LA Knight getting more attention in the main-event scene is another move I think deserves credit. Solo Sikoa’s babyface direction has also been surprisingly interesting, and there are plenty of smaller creative changes that have made WWE feel more unpredictable. And then there’s the women’s division, where the championship finally has an actual storyline, Fatal Influence winning the belts, and other changes that show WWE experimenting with different directions. Even Danhausen being pulled back somewhat is something worth discussing. So instead of focusing on everything WWE is doing wrong, let’s take a moment to appreciate the things that are working. I don't care how young he is—if WWE believes he's one of the future faces of the company, then start treating him like it.
