The Big Vinny V Show, Sep 8th

AAA's go-home show for TripleMania did very little to promote the year's biggest show. TNA Impact didn't do much better at promoting theirs, but at least they still have several weeks to go. AAA featured a trios match with nothing on the line and guys who are never on TV; a bunch of very WWE-esque promos; a celebration of a legend that was great but could have happened any other week; exactly one new match booked for the weekend; and a squash win for a title challenger. Meanwhile, on Impact, TNA offered a bunch of short matches, a lot of strange promos and angles, an impressive debut for a new wrestler, and a good main event between Jason Hotch and Trey Miguel that had a dumb finish. We'll explain on the Big Vinny V Show!

The Big Vinny V Show, Sep 1st

TNA came out of Lockdown with a main event already announced for Bound For Glory, which means we get several weeks of focused TV with an obvious endpoint in sight. With that in mind, this week's episode of Impact opened with Leon Slater confronting TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth, and it closed with Slater teaming with Ricky Sosa to challenge Nic & Ryan Nemeth for the TNA World Tag Team Championships. Speaking of championships, it's time to crown the inaugural TNA Knockouts TV Champion, with M by Elegance battling Jada Stone in a tournament final. The result of the match is surprising, but it's how they got there that's the real stunner. Elsewhere, Elijah battles Bear Bronson of the System; Trey Miguel shows off his new gear which seems destined for a cease and desist notice, and also teams with Jason Hotch against Order 4; and Indi Hartwell and Daria Rae create some truly miserable television together. Come join the fun on the Big Vinny V Show!

    Karl Stern Show, Sep 1st

This episode concludes my series on the history of the National Wrestling Alliance World heavyweight championship and follows the belt into the independent era. This series was completed before the Billy Corgan NWA era began and, at some point, I will do an episode on it also, but this show follows the championships fall from being a major independent championship to a lineage where it is hard to even remember most of the names.

The Big Vinny V Show, Aug 25th

Wrestling is usually best when it's simple. Because when it's complicated, it just ends up confusing. As was the case in both TNA and AAA this week. TNA Lockdown was a pay per view event that asked more questions than it answered. What was the point of the all-cage match gimmick? Why was there so much interference in these cage matches? Why did so many of them need "creative" finishes that left viewers scratching their heads? And perhaps most importantly, why did so many babyfaces lose in such humiliating fashion? Meanwhile, AAA delivers a tournament match that is not the advertised tournament match, and then the guy who advances in the tournament was not in the match. I watched this stuff so you don't have to. The least you can do is join me on the Big Vinny V Show.
