Prog Review 20: New Blood Deluxe Edition - Peter Gabriel

Get your copy of this album here: http://amzn.to/newblooddeluxe I wasn't particularly a big fan of Gabriel's last orchestral effort "Scratch My Back" so I wasn't expecting much from this bumper release. The set contains a blu-ray, DVD, and 2 CD albums - covering all the facets of the Live Blood/New Bood project. Get your copy of this box set here: http://amzn.to/pinkfloyddiscovery I've had enough time to cogitate and ruminate over the worthiness of the new Pink Floyd "Discovery" box set. The bottom line is: is this any better than than the "Oh, By The Way" set released a couple of years back? The answer to that is simple: no.

    09-07-11 [Looking Glass]

I am registered with a website called "Sentric Music" and this site supposedly finds music for adverts and whatever promotional contracts it is handling. They often send out emails requesting a certain type of song for a project and usually it is some kind of indie-rock genre that I am not interesting in covering. However, last Friday they sent a brief out for an advert for a mobile phone company and wanted something suitably twee and spacey. This is my attempt at a track for them. I doubt it will get picked but this was recorded specifically for a mobile phone advert. So there you go... http://www.darrenlock.com/media/looking_glass.mp3

If you like it, drop me a comment on my website www.darrenlock.com and I'll record the second chapter (not sure if that's more of a threat than a treat).

    29-05-11 [Rough Sketch]

This is a rough idea I put down recently. I haven't done any serious recording for about five months, so whenever I return to active recording duty I always just mess around playing the simplest things just so I can get my fingers back into some sort of shape. Hence this song is as basic as it gets - however, good songs sometimes come from these basic frameworks. This recording also marks my debut recording using my iMac DAW and was put down using Logic Studio.
