Your Listener
by John Cuturilo
John Cuturilo, the counsellor of Your Listener Counselling in Melbourne, Australia, is the host of the Your Listener podcast. Discussing psychological topics including mental health, critical thinking, and social matters, he presents unique insights. Rather than lecturing coercively on what to believe, filling his discussions with provocative language or quotes from famous people, or political rhetoric, John explains how our minds work and the impact of this on how we operate individually and socially. Through this, John encourages critical thinking, accepting responsibility for our flaws, the separation of criticising ideas from judging people, exercising our minds, and finding ways to live in harmony with and learn from each other rather than avoiding those who think differently. He also believes in helping his audience to deve

How children develop virtue with Susanne Gervay
In this episode, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Susanne Gervay, an accomplished Australian author and speaker whose experiences have inspired her life's journey of helping young people grow and develop resilience, compassion, and determination. I reveal the significance of Susanne's work in my own youth, before discussing the importance of young people's minds in developing virtue. With the still-held assumption that children are just chaotic tyrants who inherently are in need of fierce, fighting discipline, Susanne and I explore how proper nurturance of children helps them to reveal the power of their minds often hidden. To learn about Susanne and find her excellent literature for young people, visit her website: www.sgervay.com"Psycho Dad" by Tory and Susanne Gervay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqNOCtdoNCM&list=RDMqNOCtdoNCM&start_radio=1"I Wanna Be Found" by Tory and Susanne Gervay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zw0JRQVht3EWe would also like to thank the Mabasta movement in Italy for helping young people develop the skills to recognise and combat bullying. The "both sides" argument settled: The actual psychology of politics

Donate at the following link:https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=3LY8DB82U3EMSIn this episode, I explain why thinking in terms of politics instead of objective truth is so illogical and destructive. I demonstrate that even though the truth about certain matters may be complicated, politically-motivated figures often claim to know it with absolute certainty, but without regard for their own double standards and fallacies. Ultimately, what we need to learn is that being truthful means asserting ideas for the right reasons and not simply choosing what feels easiest to believe — and that the effort this takes in real life often leads our minds to take shortcuts.Prefer to listen elsewhere? The desperately-needed conversation about parenting with Ebony Uamaki
In this episode, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Ebony Uamaki. Ebony is a proud mother, intuitive reader, model, coach, speaker, and disability advocate. Ebony is also blind, and it's a testament to her resilience and wisdom that she has overcome the challenges and stigma associated with disability and stands as an inspiration to all.Raising children will always be perhaps the world's most important job, and it brings joy in to the lives of many. But it also brings with it great responsibilities, including self-regulation, discipline, patience, sacrifice, and empathy. While we may consider becoming a parent to be a natural progression for adults, too many ignore or are unaware of how easy it is to influence their children in undesirable ways that could have consequences for the rest of their adult lives. Ebony and I discuss some of the most important (and sometimes most ignored) issues in the domain, including the need for personal responsibility, informed choice, and conscientiousness in helping children to develop in a psychologically and physically healthy manner.Find Ebony's work at the following links:https://www.instagram.com/ebonyuamaki/?next=%2Frecoveringfrombelief%2Fhttps://open.spotify.com/show/10caV45agb8G1SfxRhEZh4?si=0Kg0MNsZQIy8c_WCGCUlmA&nd=1&dlsi=42aed9a4c584462chttps://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/eb-n-flow-podcast/id1679746024Prefer to listen elsewhere? ABOUT THIS SHOW
John Cuturilo, the counsellor of Your Listener Counselling in Melbourne, Australia, is the host of the Your Listener podcast. He often helps his audience to realise that what we assume are truths are often ideas resulting from errors in thinking — to which all of us may fall subject. Through this, John encourages critical thinking, accepting responsibility for our flaws, the separation of criticising ideas from judging people, exercising our minds, and finding ways to live in harmony with and learn from each other rather than avoiding those who think differently. He also believes in helping his audience to deve
