S4E3: Finding your place at Leeds

Join Martin Lloyd as he talks about one of the most important themes of university, as we come towards the end of the first term of 2025-26: how do you find your place? As the nights draw in and the academic pressure ramps up, it's only natural to be worried about finding your place at university. Having often lived in the same place for a long time with similar friends, it can sometimes feel like it's difficult to find friends who share your interests, and therefore difficult to find your place in Leeds. For students in later years, there may be worries about leaving university now that you have found your place, as the struggle has evolved.  Advice on how to deal with these thoughts and more is given on the latest edition of the You've Got This! Podcast, brought to you by AHC Wellbeing.  We also have a special feature interview on accent bias with two members of the AHC Student Advisory Board, which links to the theme of belonging and 'finding your place'. Our first episode is all about introductions- introductions to the podcast, the AHC Wellbeing Project, their interns as well as your host, Millie Cairns (she/her). We'll be uploading monthly episodes surrounding different wellbeing issues and topics in a way that hopefully feels accessible and relatable. While we'll be chatting about universal worries like finding friendships, imposter syndrome and grade anxieties, we want to utilise this podcast to talk about experiences unique to those from marginalised backgrounds and how maintaining wellbeing may be harder for those from marginalised communities. While my podcast may not be able to give the answers I hope to at least create discourse around these issues and an open discussion on the nuances of wellbeing, because sometimes as university that can feel really hard.  This podcast is a part of AHC Wellbeing Project which aims to create internships for students in the AHC faculty surrounding wellbeing for students and staff.
