After leaving the service, he wanted to be an attorney, so enrolled in law school, but didn’t make it through a semester of law school before dropping out. Bottom line is that he was born to be an entrepreneur like his Dad. John loved podcasts and listened to them regularly, quickly realizing that he could do the same, and that there wasn’t a podcast out there interviewing successful entrepreneurs, so he created one. His was the first daily podcast, telling stories of entrepreneurial journeys. EOFire (Entrepreneur on Fire) was launched on September 22, 2012. That community has also been the catalyst for his other communities and online training programs, Podcasters’ Paradise, WebinarOnFire, and The Fire Path. John’s definition of success is different than when he first became and entrepreneur. In the early days, he considered success to be able to pay the bills doing something he enjoyed. Today’s definition of success is simply… freedom. Freedom of location, freedom of lifestyle, and financial freedom. John has interviewed such entrepreneurs as Tony Robbins, Seth Godin, Gary Vaynerchuk, Barbara Corcoran, Tim Ferriss, Brian Tracy, and over 1500 others. The show was named Best of iTunes in 2013. REINVENTING THE CALM IN THE CHAOS
Michael Hingson is Reinventing The Calm in the Chaos Michael shares how we can all use our inner tools more effectively to become more successful at whatever we are attempting to do. Michael was born in 1950, blind from birth and survived the 9/11 attacks with the help of his guide dog Roselle. This story is the subject of his best-selling book, Thunder Dog. Reinventing The Calm in the Chaos, Michael and the Crew discuss how we can not see the virus, but we can see the effects, where it is, how to deal with it and how to stay protected from the virus. There are so many people afraid of the pandemic, the fact is we should not focus on what we can’t control but engage with those things we have control and influence over. A few lessons learned by the crew: A good life lesson, that everyone can do the same things, they might just do them in different ways. Another lesson the crew ponders We really should not rely on one sense, life can be all about letting go of control if we open our eyes to what our different senses are telling us we can learn alot. In This Episode * Travelling during covid * Adopting the right mindset, attitude for challenges * Getting around in the dark is not a problem * When we lose one sense, we can learn to hone and heighten our other skills and senses. REINVENTING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL LEAP WITH GINO WICKMAN
Gino Wickman believes entrepreneurs are born, and he is Reinventing Entrepreneurs in the making. Gino has been an entrepreneur since the age of 21 and became obsessed with learning what makes businesses and entrepreneurs thrive. With tried and true real-world entrepreneurial experience, he generated opportunities out of his mistakes, formulating an Entrepreneurial Operating system that helps entrepreneurs not only glimpse their perfect path, but reach pinnacles of greatness. His latest goal and book is designed to free 1-million entrepreneurs in the making. By shortening the front end of the Entrepreneurs’ journey, so they can discover who they are, and become why they were put on this planet. Entrepreneurs opening their vision of success. Gino believes entrepreneurs are not meant to find success in every business, That they need to open their vision of success. Know if they are a product person versus a services person. Greatness is not only one way and to open the gateway, knowing if you are a true entrepreneur or a self employed person can free the path of celebration. When we think that billion dollar companies are the only way to go, we are wrong. The first step is self awareness, that not everyone wants to scale. The true entrepreneur is a crazily passionate red-line visionary who is driven to build billion dollar companies. Those entrepreneurs are willing to sacrifice everything, do anything it takes to create their dream. For example, Elon Musk verses the successful handy guy: Elon can’t help himself, but create billion dollar companies. The difference being personal traits you are either born with or not. If you have all six traits and your red-lining on all, then you are in the 4% and far right of entrepreneurialism. If someone doesn’t have the 6 essential traits, they are not willing to red-line sacrifice their personal time and that’s great too, but you need to know. And then there are integrators, those personalities that can take on the Entrepreneur’s vision and build it out. A symbiotic relationship that builds huge success. What the Crew learned, how to redefine their own entrepreneurial experience, by identifying and reflecting when they are willing to sacrifice or what is non negotiable. Explore the six trait list. REINVENTING CULTURE & CIVILITY WITH KENNETH BATOR
Kenneth Bator reinvents culture & civility. Bator training and consulting, create environments where employees want to come to work. And for the past 16 years, Ken’s work includes law enforcement. With culture loud and clear and high in the headlines, the crew directs the conversion towards hard and hot topics in America, culture. Ken reveals a deeply painful loss, an aunt beaten to death by a black person, but clarifies his feelings; it does not mean he hates an entire race of people. He encourages us to have a similar reality, to not judge the entire police force. Ken voices concern over reallocating funds. The challenge and pitfalls of blindly changing police programs, rather than looking at other examples in the system that are working, and adopting strategies for something that is better for both citizens and the police force. He says America can achieve a pro-peace, pro-change and pro-police solution, where all communities feel safe and where police officers know they will go home at night and tuck their kids into bed. Mary strongly agrees, condemning violence of all kinds, and pointing out that; “all lives matter.” Ken’s circles round to relocation of funds and his expertise, suggesting that if funds are reallocated, areas of allocation should also include identifying where police need further education, support and evaluation of mental stability. Everyone agrees that what happened to George Floyd was wrong, that the force used, didn’t fit the crime. Many may have watched the replay of civilians voicing their alarm, or witnessed the ignored protest of a rookie cop, and almost everyone held their breath listening to the final gasp of George Floyd’s; “I can’t breathe”. His last and final words amplified in a cultural alarm that now permeates America’s covid-19 filled air. Steve philosophizes that covid 19 and “I can’t breathe” create another global metaphor for change. As Steve asks us to bridge our perspective, the minutes preceding the death of Mr. Floyd, with the asphyxiation of the human race and our planet, all struggling to inhale. Concluding that the entire planet is now awake, searching for currently unseen solutions to virus free air and stale cultural norms that are further saturated with the stench of racism. What did the crew learn? There are many divergent views and information; and similar to amendments to some of America’s greatest constitutional documents, culture needs to change, and the decisions we are all making today have an opportunity to completely change our lives, hopefully for the better. REINVENTING START UP NON PROFITS
Christian Lefer is re-inventing starting nonprofits, he had his first exposure to nonprofits cheering on his mentally disabled little sister in the Special Olympics. He grew up to live what you may have thought was, the perfect life and yet he hated the person he had become. Then it seemed like life burned to the ground, finding himself emotionally and financially bankrupt and alienated from his family. Finally he surrendered to his pain, and was reborn a new man, with a deeper purpose born from love for himself and others. With a new outlook and a mantra he began enabling people that want to start a nonprofit. This journey started seven years ago, as he found himself helping a friend and becoming frustrated with the 18 month IRS red tape approval time for starting a nonprofit. Christian’s resourcefulness ignited, and he took his frustration and studied the system until he removed the blocks of a cumbersome process. Instant Nonprofit became the solution for many people wanting to serve others. Once intimidating paperwork can be completed and filed in one hour and at ⅓ of the cost. With 501c3 IRS approval in as little as 3 months. But as with every solution, another problem arises. He then discovered that many nonprofits are ignited by heart centered entrepreneurs who lacked business background. By understanding where the skills deficit lay, he then built a knowledge base for them to learn how to keep the business running. His clients now have the skills needed to fund-raise or run a board meeting in less than 30 minutes: Along with nonprofit set up they are offered tools to build their non-profit and get what needs to be done all year round. Christian says if you have a purpose for helping people, pets and the planet. anything charitable, scientific, educational, preventing cruelty to animals, helping children, look into nonprofits. And today, more than ever nonprofits can help our communities. He mentions that nonprofits are at the forefront and bringing light into the trials and tribulations of the African American community, where people with a purpose are creating solutions for their community. One aspect of Nonprofit enablement is to help rebuild the social fabric within the African American community. He encourages everyone to think about how they can engage, and consider corporate funding, because corporations are seeking outlets for giving back. It’s a win win, corporate donations benefit from tax relief, nonprofits benefit from cost savings, and the fast and easy process that Christian provides. REINVENTING THE MILLIONAIRES LAWYER
JP McAvoy is Reinventing The Millionaire’s Lawyer on Reinvention Radio. He may be known as the Expert at Exit, J.P. enjoys a hallway commute to his office, currently operating his 6th company. He says he’s had a lot of fun over the years. And has sold several of his past businesses for 8 figures. But he also experienced the dot com crash. Describing the crash as a visceral face punch experience; it was like falling from the top of the world to mac without the cheese. He now uses that visceral feeling to monitor turbulence that could surface before any future black swan events. In J.P.’s opinion, if you can navigate turbulence, you can navigate everything. They talk about the sheer magnitude of companies that will not survive the pandemic? The conversation is deep and pivotal. J.P.’s prediction? Everything has changed, survival is no longer to fight everyday. Rather, survival may be to burn it all down and change everything. Because, in his opinion, the world is not coming back the way it used to be. When asked for advise, JP concedes his advise is different from his action. He is an all in, risk kind of guy, but also says this isn’t necessarily his advise to clients. He had an epiphany with the birth of his first child, that changed the way he worked. As the conversation comes full circle, the talk turns to mindset. Asking JP if positivity is a part his DNA? Nope, part of the answer is perseverance, he says, and the desire to figure it out. I follow the stockdale paradox, failure is not an acceptable outcome. Looking back, JP recalls how his success began. A garage, risk, opportunity and a lot of Ramen noodles. He still has a vision of the future where anything is possible. And JP is feeling excited about emerging opportunities. Last bit of advise? If you every thought of starting a company, look at the market, what neon signs are flashing in the marketplace? And the biggest mistakes in early founders ? According to JP, is not focusing on the market. Brad says, “Right now, the best thing we can do given our current economy is to build community. Don’t go into a community try to get as much out of it, that is the wrong approach, it should be to give as much as possible” The most important things to focus on right now: skills (copy writing), relationship capital and have a vehicle to serve people with to turn those relationships to capital. Building Your Business Through Relationships
Bob Serling, tired of the grind of copy-writing was looking for a way to help more than just one client at a time. Inspired by IBM and the licensing of all their products to their clients he transferred this concept into a business of his own. A business that started with the writing of one letter that proved to be monetarily successful for one client. That same letter was then customized for another, and another and so on. The result? He had found the way to use a proven marketing campaign over and over again with many clients instead of having to create new copy from scratch each and every time. Since then Bob has licensed dozens of marketing and business systems, toys, software, and insurance products. With thousands of customers also using his licensing methods to enrich their own lives. Today his vision is to show businesses that licensing the assets they already have is often more profitable than selling their own core products. Join him as he digs deeper into the topic of licensing with the RRCrew on this week’s episode of Reinvention Radio. REINVENTING JOHN LEE DUMAS
John Lee Dumas grew up in a small town of about 2,000 in Maine, wanting to go to college, but didn’t have funding, so joined the Army ROTC. With the help of the service, John earned a degree, and served as an officer in the Army, completing a 13-month tour of duty in Iraq as an Armor Platoon Leader. His recipe for success is: Create free, valuable, and consistent content. The community he has built from the podcast he calls Fire Nation. EOFire generates 7 figures in revenue annually and Dumas continues to openly share his income breakdown in a monthly report on his site, verified by a CPA. Recently, John launched The Freedom Journal, a faux leather-bound journal to help individuals set and accomplish a goal in 100 days. He launched The Freedom Journal through a Kickstarter campaign in January 2016. With over $350,000 pledged in only 33 days, it became one of the most funded publishing campaigns in the history of Kickstarter. Since the Freedom Journal, he has also launched two other journals: The Podcast Journal, which guides people to launch a podcast in 50 days, and The Mastery Journal, guiding people to master productivity, discipline and focus in 100 days. TUNE IN to this episode as John chats with Steve, Mary and Richard about his entrepreneurial journey and guiding others to do the same. REINVENTING PERSONAL GROWTH
Brendan Burns grew up in an environment filled with verbal, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, with parents that were violent, addictive, and chaotic. On the surface, everything seemed fine. He coped with his perfectionism and buried his feelings, all the while attending Ivy League Schools and receiving his JD-MBA from Cornell by 25. He was then off to Wall Street, thinking he had everything all figured out. One year later, he lost his job and girlfriend the same week, which turned out to be a catalyst to getting help and beginning to change his life. By sheer luck, he found answers in the self-help section of Barnes & Noble, never looking back. Six years of deep personal development and answer-seeking later, Brendan left Wall Street to build an NYC-based mission to help end suffering for others. Initially when he worked on personal development, he focused internally. As he began to heal himself, he moved away from the Wall Street model of money, drugs and dysfunction. The final straw was losing his best friend to drug addiction, leaving him angry and devastated and was enough to make him walk away from it all two months later, buying a one-way ticket to Hanoi, Vietnam, growing his Instagram account as a fun pet project, assuming he would come back to New York in a few months and find another job. It quickly became apparent that Brendan was onto something when his Instagram blew up to more than 100,000 followers. He realized he could monetize it while sharing his passion, personal development journey and as a foundation to start a coaching and speaking business. He had found his new path. Brendan is now an entrepreneur, speaker, and high-performance coach on a mission to help others, save lives, and give back. His programs and events are for anyone and have helped people who have suffered abuse, trauma, or drug addiction and want to escape that nightmare and start living their best life. He successfully helped a young woman end an addiction to heroin in just two sessions, has worked with professional athletes, including former NFL and MLB players, as well as C-level executives and clients from over 60 countries on 6 continents. REINVENTING AUTHORSHIP
Christine Kloser wrote the wrong successful book – building up $500,000 in six months… but it wasn’t right for her, so she shut it down a year later, losing everything, going through bankruptcy and foreclosure. She was pretty sure no one would ever pay her for anything again. Then, in 2011, Christine ran the first-ever Transformational Author Experience, made over $100,000 and launched a movement serving transformational authors around the world. She coined the term “transformational author” and debuted it at that first Transformational Author Experience. The concept of the transformational author came about when she experienced a major setback in her business when she was straddling two different industries and found herself lost in the chasm between them. Her first class of students numbered over 10,000. Many of Christine’s clients have gone on to become bestselling authors, sign traditional publishing contracts, speak around the world and appear in major media including CNBC, CBS, Time, Business Week, CNN, ABC, The New York Times, Fox & Friends, and TEDx. Transformational Authors have launched book-based businesses using her popular programs Get Your Book Done®, the Transformational Author Experience®, Breakthrough LIVE, and the My Time to Write® mentorship program. REINVENTING BUSINESSMEN
Nicholas Bayerle grew up in San Diego, CA and always wanted to be a business owner like his dad – until they had a falling out which led to depression and serious weight gain. He was obese, broke, and single. Bullied in high school, Nicholas graduated with just a 1.8 GPA. The fact that he graduated exceeded his family’s expectations for him. Then he worked to get healthy, married and built a business, then lost it all over 16 months, struggling for several years in business, while also running his Dad’s carpet cleaning company for a small salary. With his wife’s inspiration to change, along with a Navy Seal mentor, Nicholas invested in masterminds, events, and mentors that could get him to where he wanted to go and guess what? It worked – and has evolved into creating a movement of businessmen. He realized that there was a gap in the marketplace and wanted to fix it. Now founder and CEO of The Billion Dollar Body, and creator of the #1 annual businessmen’s event, Billion Dollar Body Live, Nicholas is also an international speaker and podcast host, has been featured in Forbes, and was rated Top 30 Under 30 Influencers, working with top businessmen. REINVENTING IMPACT
Duff Gardner is an award-winning 7-figure marketer, startup founder and Silicon Valley educated digital executive. When he took his first job, he encountered “gay bias”, a series of panic attacks ensued, and he spent a decade on a roller coaster with his business. When he woke up to drawing strength from his modern family everything changed. Today, Duff has a diverse business that includes coaching, local business and dabbling in angel investing. When he created his first startup company, it was in and itself a huge accomplishment, because by nature he’s a wallflower. But he learned in that experience to be what he calls “Investible”. In that experience Duff created an 8-step Offer Creation process that he uses to this day with clients in the transformation world (impact-driven entrepreneur) to shift the way they think about going from startup to impact. That process he calls “The Yes Offer” and is the foundation of his coaching program Offers that Sell Mentorship. Duff discusses why the “Irresistible Offer” is Dead and breaks down why the idea of an Irresistible Offer has become a rabbithole, and shares the advantages of creating an 8-Step Investible Offer system instead. Creator of The Impact Scorecard, Duff designed the transformation industry’s first “Performance Scorecard” and the 5-Key measures of impact-driven entrepreneurship. REINVENTING YOUR PATH
Lori Lyons began her career as a teacher before moving to the dreaded corporate world where she learned graphics, marketing, and sales. Realizing corporate work wasn’t where she wanted to be, she began working for a small startup business and gained the knowledge and experience to run a business of her own. She saw the long hours and the risks they took, deciding small business wasn’t for her. Funny how the universe works! In 1986, Lori was in a life-changing car accident that left her with a physical challenge that haunts her to this day, effectively removing her from the corporate world. She couldn’t physically teach anymore. It was the mid-1980’s when networking and entrepreneurship weren’t everyday words. In 1994, Lori moved to New Jersey with her husband, leaving the small company she was working with to start her own business. It was an abrupt exit when the owner of the company she worked for discovered her intention to start her own company (which was still months away) and let her go that afternoon, pushing her timeline up drastically, so she became an entrepreneur overnight. In 2015, with the encouragement of a business coach, she decided to go full-time, focusing on website and marketing coaching. Ignite Marketing was born. In only six months, she was making bank. REINVENTING MARKETING PSYCHOLOGY
Justin Womack’s journey from employee to entrepreneur fast-tracked after a near-fatal accident with his car rolled upside down, underwater, spending two months in the ICU. After nearly drowning in dirty water, he developed a condition known as ARDS due to fungal infections in his lungs and was kept in a medically induced coma for nearly 30 days. The accident and subsequent recovery changed his perspective on life, and was the catalyst to following his true calling to start his own business. His goal was to launch a company, develop fast credibility, and to become profitable in the first year. Justin leveraged public workshops, public speaking, and media appearances. Within a year, he led marketing workshops at the local Chamber of Commerce, spoke at networking groups and non-profits, and got booked for an interview series on a local AM radio station. Filming it all, he put it all on social media and used it to start building his personal brand, leveraging that with key networking relationships to then book speaking gigs for organizations like SCORE, the AITP, Marsh & McLennan and AIG. Justin became an Infusionsoft Certified Partner and was recruited from Fiverr for a test program called “Fiverr Pro.” Launching his podcast, Marketing Geeks, transformed his entire business, leveraging the podcast to interview top marketing experts as well as promote his own services, bringing in a consistent $600-$800 per month in ad revenue for the show. The podcast has attracted more attention, credibility, and clients than anything else he’s done in his business. One of Justin’s gifts is understanding human psychology, including how to build fast authority and credibility for business owners and he has used it to his advantage not only for himself, but his clients as well. Tune in to hear Steve, Mary and Richard chat with Justin about helping businesses grow through the implementation of internet marketing strategies. REINVENTING ANIMAL RESCUE
In 2001, Kathy Stevens turned down an offer to lead a new charter high school, instead co-founding Catskill Animal Sanctuary, where her love of teaching, her belief that education has the power to transform, and her love of animals come together. Catskill Animal Sanctuary is one of the world’s leading sanctuaries for farmed animals, having saved more than 5,000 non-human individuals through direct rescue and exponentially more through programming that encourages humans to adopt veganism. Kathy is the author of two critically and popularly acclaimed books, about the work of Catskill Animal Sanctuary, Where the Blind Horse Sings and Animal Camp. She’s also a contributor to books, podcasts and articles on animal sentience, animal rights and veganism. Kathy takes her message of kindness to all beings to conferences and colleges across the U.S. and Canada and looks forward to transitioning from her Executive Director role to full-time “vision keeping,” speaking and writing in support of the Sanctuary’s urgent mission. On weekends, you’ll often find her on the grounds, either tagging along on tours or kissing pigs. REINVENTING CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
Jill Raff developed her customer-first philosophy growing up in the “McDonald’s family.” In 1959, her family opened store #150 in Ocala, Florida. From age seven, while shadowing her father and working her way around every station in the restaurant, she experienced first-hand the results of founder Ray Kroc’s philosophy of QSC & V (Quality, Service, Cleanliness & Value). As a little girl in preppy Columbus, Georgia, Jill also always loved fashion. When looking at clothes or trying them on, she’d always want to shift the neckline or modify some element of the design. She did the same thing with recipes in cookbooks, not realizing that this was a creative part of her waiting to be discovered and developed. Her first career was as a Fashion Designer (knitwear specialist), with some textile print design. She then was a NYC Food Stylist, then a licensed Real Estate Agent in NYC (now holds licenses in NY & TX) and finally realized that her purpose encapsulated all of these experiences. Losing her Dad when he was just 65, having just turned 33, led to a time of healing by moving closer to her sister in Israel. That year began her next journey – going to Paris to get her Grand Diplome, in French Cuisine and Pastry, opening the next phase of her life. Jill now applies her gifts of being super detail-oriented, sensitive, observant, skilled and knowledgable in various markets and industries, having lived and worked across 3 continents, 6 countries and learning 4 foreign languages along the way. Now she feels it’s time to give back, living out her Dad’s legacy and what was seeded as a little girl working her first job at age 7, answering the phone at McDonald’s, with her Dad being her first Mystery Shopper. Using her proprietary 7-ingredient customer experience transformation process, Jill helps businesses create company cultures that deliver extraordinary customer experiences so that customers will become obsessed with doing business with them. Tune in to hear Steve, Mary and Richard chat with Jill about her mission to create a “Customer Experience Movement”. In This Episode What she learned from McDonald’s Her parents were the first to employ women at McDonald’s Creating true teamwork Is the customer always right? REINVENTING AGEISM
Born in Albany, New York, Gayle Carson, aka Spunky Old Broad® (SOB), earned her degree in Broadcasting, Theater, and Speech from Emerson College. During college, she hosted two radio shows and began her training in live TV. After college, she moved to Miami, finding work almost immediately. A year later, she bought that business and proceeded to diversify its sales base from one to seven divisions, eventually becoming the largest independent organization in the industry. As CEO, Gayle managed a diverse staff of over 350 people, graduated more than a million students from her training programs and personally managed the company’s complex payroll. While serving as CEO, she also received her Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. Gayle served as a TV spokesperson for Clairol visiting major markets doing before and after makeovers during this time. As President of the Carson Research Center, she served as a consultant to 50 industries on six continents, advising them on current business trends and cutting edge opportunities to stay ahead of their competition. Author of five books, she hit the Amazon’s bestsellers list, was a winner of the Best Seller Quill Award and was inducted into the National Academy of Best Selling Authors. Coaching and speaking across the world, Dr. Gayle repeatedly heard: “How do you stay so positive?” “Where does that inner-spunk come from?” She knew she wasn’t a spring chicken and having an opinion can make people reach for the BROAD word. So why not put this whole thing together and represent in a POSITIVE way, three words that are typically NEGATIVE? With that, the Spunky Old Broad® (SOB) philosophy was born. Gayle was selected as a “2007 Legend of the Speaking Profession”, hosted Entrepreneur’s “Women in Business” radio show, wrote for them and had articles in More Magazine. Currently, she hosts over a dozen radio shows per month and is the founder of the sobradionetwork.com She is also the only woman in the world who has a Doctorate, a CSP (Certified Speaking Professional), CMC (Certified Management Consultant) and an FIMC (Fellow to the Institute of Management Consultants). REINVENTING TEACHING
Esther Wojcicki is a leading American educator, journalist, and mother. A leader in Blending Learning and the integration of technology into education, she is founder of the Media Arts program at Palo Alto High School, where she built a journalism program from a small group of 20 students in 1984 to one of the largest in the nation, including 600 students, five additional journalism teachers, and nine award-winning journalism publications. Author of How to Raise Successful People: Simple Lessons for Radical Results, Esther has created a training program and has a way to modify the program to get better student outcomes. The challenge for her was reimagining what the classroom should look like so that students were learning and HAPPY. As it turns out, the system doesn’t care if the kids are happy. They just want them to learn and graduate. What is IT? IT is TRICK (from her book) which stands for trust, respect, independence, collaboration, and kindness. Sounds simple and it is, but teaching teachers how to do it is, unfortunately, not simple. Teachers are trained to teach by lecture and trained to maintain total control. It is the old system developed more than 100 years ago, but it doesn’t work for our world today. She tried multiple ways to get students more involved and the most effective was give them more control over what they were learning. It took trust and respect to do that because kids could just goof off but turns out that they want to please. That is a by-product, so it worked out well. They still stick to the tradition curriculum requirements; it is just that you provide flexibility in how they learn the materials. Having been intimately involved with Google and GoogleEdu since its inception, where she was one of the leaders in setting up the Google Teacher Academy and remains a guiding force, Esther also has two Honorary Doctorate Degrees – Palo Alto University (2013) and Rhode Island School of Design (2016). She was California Teacher of the Year in 2002 by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing; a recipient of the Gold Key by Columbia Scholastic Press Association in recognition of her outstanding devotion to the cause of the school press; a board member of Alliance for Excellent Education in Washington, DC, and on the Board of Newseum in DC; and a has been consultant for the U.S Department of Education, Hewlett Foundation, Carnegie Foundation for Advancement of Teaching, Google, Silicon Valley Education Foundation and Time Magazine Education. Esther serves as Vice-Chair of Creative Commons and has previously worked as a professional journalist for multiple publications and blogs regularly for The Huffington Post. She set up a foundation called GlobalMoonshotsinEducation.org and is hoping to get funding to allow the organization to acknowledge and validate schools and programs that are already doing it as well as provide training for schools that don’t do it but want to. Tune in to hear Steve, Mary and Richard chat with Esther about raising successful people and how simple lessons can create radical positive results. REINVENTING WEALTH IN BUSINESS
It seemed Dustin Mathews was on top. Social media was painting the picture of old-fashioned American success story with a high 7-figure business, working with celebrities, traveling the world… but he felt stagnant. For almost 9 years, Dustin worked to build his company, but in the last year before he left, he began to see clear signs of serious problems with people saying to him things like, “I support you if you want to leave.” “Weird,” he would think. After all, he was the co-founder. Why would he want to leave? Then his grandmother died. Dustin rushed to the hospital to get there before her final moments, but arrived too late. He didn’t plan on speaking at her funeral, but something compelled him to share her story. As he told that story, it was like a light switch had been flicked on inside his head. What if he left his company? Was this just a momentary “dip” or was it the end? Then came the turning point. His company entered into hosting an event with . . . let’s just say . . . a questionable partner. There were red flags everywhere—missed calls, unanswered emails, unsigned contracts. Details of the event were constantly changing. Meanwhile, his second son was to be born just days before. Dustin’s role was supposed to be to show up, speak, and leave. At least that’s what he thought… He pulled people together and they limped through the entire event somehow, coming out of it still standing. There was an amazing small core team that made it possible and they celebrated that amazing feat. But that was it. The damage was done. The decision made. The knockout punch. Leaving was hard, but it left him energized. It was the best choice he’d ever made. But what was he going to do? He could get a job, go to law school, start another business… so he started reaching out to old contacts. Eventually, his friend Andy got back to him, telling him about WealthFit. He was intrigued enough to get on a plane to fly out to meet with the WealthFit team in San Diego. Their vision of helping entrepreneurs and go-getters resonated with Dustin. He wanted people to understand that they should be building wealth while building their ventures and to help them get those ventures off the ground. With WealthFit, he could share his story and the lessons he’d learned along the way. They made an offer and he accepted, becoming the Chief Wealth Evangelist on the WealthFit team in San Diego. Dustin is now WealthFit’s Chief Education Officer. He is also the co-author of No B.S. Guide to Powerful Presentations, inspiring entrepreneurs to reach their full potential through his mission of empowerment. Along with many best selling books, Dustin is the host of the popular “Get WealthFit!” Show. He has interviewed and shared the stage with athletes, business celebrities, movie producers and titans of business such as Danica Patrick, Cal Ripken Jr., Kevin Harrington, Robert Kiyosaki, Jesse Itzler, Shannon Miller, Dave Meltzer and many others. Dustin’s ventures have been featured by Forbes, Entrepreneur, USA Today and INC Magazine. He’s also received recognition by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for codifying a process for creating and selling products and service, Irresistible Offer Architecture®. REINVENTING BUSINESS CASH FLOW
Early in his career as a CPA, Jeff Prager made the best decision of his life – to transition to Advisory Services – and it CHANGED his life! Realizing early on that helping clients save money on their taxes was great, but that helping them make better management decisions that allowed them to grow more stable companies and make more money, he was able to offer his insights and advice. Jeff has been a CPA, business owner and entrepreneur for over 35 years, as well as a former CEO/CFO and owner of several successful multimillion-dollar companies. As an accountant, Jeff was relegated to looking at ‘what happened’. But as an advisor, he was finally able to become involved in ‘what’s going to happen’ and keep businesses safely moving in the right direction. He realized that most business leaders did not have a grasp on the real numbers that drive revenue and he could offer more value to these struggling businesses if he could just work with them before they got into trouble. What happened next was completely unexpected. Jeff’s clients started asking him for more help, which led to his being offered numerous management and ownership opportunities. He was a offered a founding partnership in Ashworth Golf Clothing, today a thriving public company worth millions; he was brought in as a partner in a homebuilding company, a land development company, and has served as CFO of dozens of other companies. Jeff is co-founder of Cash Flow Engineering, LLC and Founder of Backroom Management Services (BMS). He’s helped companies raise over $1 billion (of which $200 million was for his own companies). Also an accomplished author, Jeff has written several books, including, Financial Forecasting in Excel, Managing Your Business with 7 Key Numbers, and The Peddler’s Son (BackroomManagement.com). Tune in to hear Steve, Mary and Richard chat with Jeff about his journey as a CPA and Advisor and why running out of cash is the #1 reason that businesses fail. Jay Gabrani was born and raised in Toronto. After his first child was born in 2005, Jay jumped into the world of real estate investing. Despite several challenges along the way, Jay built a multiple seven-figure real estate portfolio. That portfolio helped him take a multi-year sabbatical to deal with heartbreaking personal tragedy when his wife passed away in 2014. Losing his wife caused Jay to reevaluate the purpose of his life, while taking a multi year sabbatical. Before she passed away, Jay thought he was financially prepared, due to his education as a professional accountant and experience as an entrerpreneur and real estate investor. He wasn’t. He quickly realized that certain account information, passwords, location of her safe deposit box keys were all unknown. So on top of mourning her loss, he was frustrated with the difficulty he encountered in the role of executor of her estate. It didn’t take long for Jay to realize that he was not the only one. Many brilliant men were doing amazing things, yet most of them could not say that their families’ most important financial information could be easily found. Many didn’t even have a will. Today, Jay makes an impact raising his three children and empowering Fathers to secure their Family’s Financial Future as the founder of Prepared Fathers, through his one-on-one and group coaching programs and his daily podcast A Minute with Jay.
