029. Q&A - Hunger Scale & How Much You Should Move

from No More Daydreams · host JJ Briggs

Solo episode answering two questions I got last week: What is the hunger scale? And how much should I workout?Tune in to find the full answer but in short: The Hunger Scale is a tool used to help get back in touch with your hunger cues. It's a ten point scale with 1 being super duper ravenously hungry and 10 being overstuffed and feeling ill. The goal is to start to eat around the feeling of a 3-4 and wrap up each meal or snack feeling around a 6-7. However, we are humans and not robots - so really the first goal is to get in touch with your hunger cues, honor them, and reduce the frequency of reaching either end of the spectrum! And how much should you workout? In true dietitian fashion, the answer is - it depends! What are your goals? What is realistic for you? How much are you currently incorporating movement into your life? There is no prescription for this and if you are at a loss of where to start, start with walking! The Hunger & Fullness ScaleMovement professionals to checkout: @liftsmcgee@rhia_dc@adam_marianelli@edalrymple88@theboulderingdptInterested in joining the team and working with me 1:1 in my nutrition coaching program? This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
