080. Body Liberation & Diversity Through Photography with Emma D'Arpino

from Free Method Podcast

In today's episode, I'm talking to Emma D'Arpino, a registered dietitian, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and photographer on a mission to recreate society's definition of health and art. She specializes in intuitive eating and eating disorders; working with clients from adolescence to adulthood. Through this, Emma is passionate about helping clients break down the barriers to finding radical self love again. While leading her clients with kindness, ease, and happiness Emma views herself as someone who takes a passenger seat on her client's journey firmly rooted in Health At Every Size principles. As such, she provides the directions and tools that lead her clients to the best possible version of themselves. Whether it is decreasing stress at the grocery store, a restaurant or their own kitchen, Emma is an ally when it comes to helping clients heal their relationship with food, their bodies, and their overall selves. In her free time, Emma enjoys purchasing too many candles at Home Goods and hanging out with her sassy French Bulldogs, Stella & Luna. In this episode, we cover: Emma shares how she went from practicing as a pediatric dietician in a clinical setting to working in the field of eating disorders [1:55] Misinformation surrounding the role and work of dieticians. Emma explains why instant information is convenient but can also be misleading [7:31] What is the Health at Every Size approach and why is it better than traditional approaches to diet and weight loss? [14:15] Emma shares how her minor in photography has illuminated the realities of thin privilege [20:26] Struggling with an "appearance matters" mindset [28:37] Connect with Emma: Website: https://www.emmadarpino.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/emmadarpino/  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@emmadarpino     Links: Spring/Summer Recipe Book FREE Method Nutrition on Instagram Dylan on Instagram Work with our team
