Welcome to another episode of the Love How Deep podcast.  We are talking about differences in marriage and most specifically how to handle them.  Sometimes differences are small, sometimes big.  Sometimes they are easy to navigate and sometimes not.  It is all part of being human and being in a relationship with the person you love most in this world.

  1. Brian & Heather discuss the differences between males and females.  One of our favorite books is called "Men and like Waffles, Women are like Spaghetti" by Bill and Pam Farrel.  It is a light hearted look at they way God made us each differently.
  2. We share some of the differences we have in sort of quiz fashion.  But ultimately we do have some similarities as well.
  3. Understanding your spouse is most important.  It isn't about hoping you can change each other or even change their perspective.  It is about things like listening to understand instead of listening to respond.
  4. We share tips on navigating differences.
    1. Listening to Understand
    2. Sharing your feeling that underlie your requests
    3. Agree to Disagree (without resentment)
    4. Take turns on decision making
    5. Look at differences as strengths and utilize those strengths in your marriage
  5. Free Resource:  PIck up our Core Value Exercise that will help you both discover what is important to you.  When you share what is truly important which each other, you can create greater understanding, which ultimately can create better communication and intimacy.

Thanks so much for listening.  We really appreciate you and want to see your marriage flourish!
