Some of today's top storiesFor the second time in two weeks... pro-Palestinian protesters took over a Bakersfield City Council meeting... calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.Several protesters delivered passionate speeches in front of the council for a little under an hour last night. They want councilmembers to approve a ceasefire resolution... joining more than 70 other cities across the U.S. At this time, however, councilmembers have not announced any plans of voting on a resolution.The long-running feud between the Kern Medical Hospital Authority and the union representing rank and file workers at the hospital is getting tense.Yesterday morning, the Union announced the filing of a complaint with the state. They claim the Hospital Authority overpaid its top executives, through their own private consulting firms, to the tune of 23-million dollars over the last four years. Named in the complaint...Scott Thygerson, the current CEO for the Kern Hospital Authority... Andrew Cantu, the current Chief Financial Officer... and Russell Judd, the Hospital Authority's former CEO.New court documents show a driver accused of a Valentine's Day crash was on her way to get fentanyl.The reports also say 29-year-old Joanna Bojorquez-Higuera spit on and threatened to a shoot a police officer. She reportedly told officers she wanted "fetty" -- which is the street term for fentanyl. Bojorquez-Higuera was arrested after allegedly driving under the influence of a drug and speeding through a red light in central Bakersfield, crashing into other vehicles and injuring four people. Bojorquez-Higuera pleaded not guilty. Police say she has two prior DUI convictions.
