#209 EMDR Explained feat. Melissa Dumaz, LMFT

from Happiness in Progress · host Danielle Craig

"You don't have to tell your whole story which can be painful. The beauty of that is you don't even have to have all the memories and details of your whole story and still be able to get some good work done. The beauty of that is you don't even have to be ready to talk about your story as long as you're ready to go inward because a lot of the work is happening inward. We're just prompting the brain and the body to do what it does naturally, which is to heal." - Melissa Dumaz, LMFT Melissa Dumaz is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Best Selling Author of The Love Challenge, co-host of The HatsPodcast and founder of You Help You, her own practice. She specializes in guiding clients through the complexities of overcoming emotional and physical trauma. She also helps clients deal with grief & loss, relationship satisfaction, parenting, transitions in life, self-care management and more. Today we talked about EMDR. I loved learning all about EMDR from Melissa. She explained how EMDR helps with trauma (what "counts" as trauma), how EMDR works and who it can help. This is a fascinating conversation. I hope you enjoy it. This was the second time Melissa came on the podcast, check out our first conversation here. CONNECT WITH ME!
