Yuval Avital talks of himself, of how his path has developed from his career as a classical guitar soloist till being a composer and multimedia artist creating installations, exhibitions, concerts and sonic events of very large scale. He tells about his roots in Jerusalem, together with his interest and research of a multiplicity of musical paradigms. Also his important work in the field of visual arts, which had influenced deeply his creation, bringing a unique voice to contemporary art museums, theatres and unusual public venues such as industrial archaeological sites, challenging the traditional crystallized categories that separate the arts. In this interview he shares his transdisciplinary approach, enhanced the relation that sound, and specifically the Voice, has with his artworks and performances; tells of his approach toward composing and creating and what role the Forest and nature play in his works; the challenge of notation in works also including many non-European cultural traditions; of meaningfulness and how it influences his composing process. He gives very serious and practical ideas and tips for young musicians and artists.
