59 - Signs (2002) Review
from The Final Podcast · host The Final Podcast
A rural family spots crop circles on their farm and battle with the uncertainty of the extraterrestrial presence that appears to be coming for them.Signs is M. Night Shyamalan's follow-up movie to The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable which are arguably his two best films and hard acts to top. Mel Gibson stars as Graham, a down-on-his-luck reverend who's faith is challenged after his wife dies and Joaquin Phoenix as Merrill, Graham's brother who returns home to help Graham cope with his loss. While the movie is caped as a sci-fi alien invasion film, this is a movie ripe with the difficulty and challenges of belief through hardships. Grief, loss, despair, faith, and love are all major elements in this Shyamalan film all while there appears to be aliens on the way. Or are they coming? Graham doesn't seem to think so. It's probably just the Wolfington Brothers. Danny "D-String" Ravenda from the NJ-based band GKM guests stars and helps us review one of his favorite sci-fi movies.
