Today on The Mindful Psychology Podcast, I am joined by Dr. Rae Mazzei, a Health Psychologist.  In this episode we will be talking about chronic illness and how it impacts our mental health. We will also be exploring different aspect of addiction, the affects of such challenges, and therapies that have proven effective in treating addiction.  Dr. Mazzei will also be unpacking certain treatment modalities and applying them to different examples, and showing us what that looks like for patients.  About Dr. MAzzei: Dr. Mazzei provides individual psychotherapy to teens and adults. Additionally, she conducts psychological assessments, including substance abuse evaluations.  Her treatment specialties include anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and certain health conditions. She utilizes health psychology to treat the behavioral issues associated with insomnia, stress management, infertility, chronic disease, chronic pain, eating issues, and weight loss. Dr. Mazzei’s approach to healing focuses on a biopsychosocial model, improving your brain, body and lifestyle. She integrates components of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), biofeedback, neurofeedback, hypnosis, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), lifestyle change, and mindfulness-based therapies.
