En: It all started in the evening when the sky was dark, and the snowdrifts were covered with fresh snow.Et: Maarja, kelle soetud sall ja kasukas pakkusid kaitset talve käredalt külma eest, astus hoogsalt üle küla tee.En: Maarja, whose scarf and coat offered protection against the harsh winter cold, briskly crossed the village road. En: Her thoughts were heavy, as the village was snowbound and unable to receive help from outside. En: The village was quiet and peaceful, but this peace hid deep worry. En: Maarja had a clear goal: to assist in the safe birth of a new member of the community.Et: Kuid kõige halvemal hetkel hakkas torm voogama, jättes kogu küla lume sisse vangistatuks.En: But at the worst moment, a storm began to surge, leaving the entire village trapped in the snow.Et: "Juhan!"En: "Juhan!"Et: hüüdis Maarja üle karmi tuule, peatudes vana puumaja ees.En: cried Maarja above the harsh wind, stopping in front of an old wooden house. En: Juhan appeared at the door, a cap on his head and a smile on his face. En: He was always like a helpful neighbor, ready to store supplies in the kitchen cupboard or help shovel snow off the roof.Et: "Tule kiiresti, meil on abi vaja!"En: "Come quickly, we need help!"Et: ütles Maarja, võtmesõnadel raske kaal.En: Maarja said, the words heavy with urgency. En: Juhan immediately understood the seriousness of the situation and joined Maarja.Et: "Sündimas on laps," lisas Maarja, viimata rohkem sõnu raisku.En: "A baby is being born," Maarja added, wasting no more words. En: Together, they headed through the village alleys between the houses where warmth and light were scarce. En: Maarja knew that in Grandma Anu's house there was an old medicine cabinet, perhaps offering something useful. En: The snow crunched under their feet, but Maarja and Juhan didn't stop for a moment.Et: Kui nad jõudsid vanaema Anu majani, said nad sealt kiirelt kokkuvõetult mõned sidemed ja paar pudelit kummeliekstrakti.En: When they reached Grandma Anu's house, they quickly gathered some bandages and a couple of bottles of chamomile extract. En: Even more important was finding support and encouragement. En: Grandma Anu, who had once been a midwife decades ago, offered useful guidance and encouraged Maarja that everything would be fine if they worked together. En: Returning, Maarja rushed into the birthing room, where candles were already lit, and a few of the village women were waiting. En: Maarja took a deep breath, feeling the lasting beauty of nature but also the weight that came with it.Et: Ta ei olnud üksi, sest Juhan viibis tema kõrval, valmis keetma vett ja soojendama tekke.En: She was not alone, for Juhan was by her side, ready to boil water and warm the blankets. En: The storm transformed the night, but Maarja and Juhan's efforts soon bore fruit. En: The pains and worries were softened by the cries of the newborn, who brought warm light to where there had only been winter cold before.Et: Maarja pühkis väsinud näolt talle välja valgunud higi ja ulatas lapse õrnalt Juhanile.En: Maarja wiped the sweat from her tired face and gently handed the baby to Juhan. En: Juhan, whose cheeks were red from the cold, held the child gently as if it were the greatest miracle in the world. En: Maarja realized for the first time how much they were truly a community.Et: Kui torm lõpuks taanduma hakkas, kogunesid külaelanikud ühise katuse alla.En: As the storm finally began to recede, the villagers gathered under one roof. En: They welcomed the new life with great relief and joy. En: The glow of the lights warmed the surroundings, and Maarja felt for the first time that this community had truly become her family.Et: Juhan seisis Maarja kõrval, kõrvus kumisemas rahulolevad naeratused.En: Juhan stood next to Maarja, the sound of contented smiles ringing in his ears. En: He understood that he had found his place not only in Maarja's heart but in the heart of the entire village. En: They had weathered the winter storm together, and from this began a new chapter not only for them but for the entire village.
