At Thursday’s meeting the Brigham City Council approved an amended power pooling agreement as municipal utilities prepare for the May 1 launch of the Extended Day-Ahead Market, or EDAM. Mason Baker, chief executive officer of UAMPS, told the council the update is driven by structural changes in western wholesale electricity markets. “We’re about to transition … into a very different market structure,” Baker said, referring to EDAM, a centralized market that requires utilities to forecast demand and demonstrate they have sufficient resources to meet it.
