Wow, more than 10 years on and Poker Flat still brings the funk! Its been a crazy year of 2009 with the 10 year anniversary celebrations, the super special ‚All In‘ compilation boxed-set, and Steve Bug‘s ‚Collaboratory‘ long-player. Now as we look towards the bold outlines of the upcoming next years its time to look back and get tearful as we dig out some of the true gems from the labels first 25 releases. ‚Chapter One‘ focuses on the most memorable A sides found in the first quarter of the labels catalogue that‘s now over 100 12‘‘ releases strong! So, on this comp you‘ll be happy to find 23 guaranteed Poker Flat classics. ‚The A Sides - Chapter One‘ is the first part in a series of four chapters and will also be complemented by 4 Chapters of ‚B-Sides‘ which will reveal the hidden gems from 10 years of Poker Flat. Kicking off with Steve Bug‘s seminal ‚Loverboy‘ - one of the undisputed minimal classics the selection flows through a whole host of names and bombs. Early playlist toe tappers include the Märtini Brös‘ ‚Babyhaze‘ - a pumping burner for the late hours, Jackmate‘s chunky and dubbed ‚Recall‘ and the legendary Josh Wink remix of ‚Loverboy‘. Steve Bug & DJ T drop their electro-centric ‚Monsterbaze‘, tripping things out for a moment, while the ‚Brös‘ wig out with their tasty ‚Funk U Up.‘ Underground legend Hakan Lidbo had a thing or two to say even back in the day, and his tough ‚Meta-Matic‘ track keeps it strong. Central Poker Flat artist Martin Landsky‘s ‚Crude Clay‘ is an pushing TechHouse journey that flows nicely in between tracks like the Bug essential ‚A Night Like This‘ or more classic work from Landsky like ‚Spy On Summer‘ or ‚Sweet Sweet Morning‘. Early Richtie Hawtin productions also feature - like his dirty and raw dub of ‚A Night Like This‘ or the absolute bomb that is the Michael Mayer remix of Hawtin‘s Robotman project and the track ‚Hypno Freak‘ prove once again that Poker Flat was a label pushing the highest quality sounds even in its early days. Drawing the selection to a close, Steve Bug‘s anthemic ‚You Make Me Feel‘ lifts the hands in the air while uber produced future minimal drops in courtesy of Glowing Glisses with the one and only Guido Schneider at the controls... Finally Chapter One closes with a tough acidic drum workout from Steve Bug - ‚That Kid‘. It’s a great conclusion to this wonderful collection of past classics and not-forgotten 12inches that contributed to the early days of our beloved Poker Flat Recordings - an exciting and epic story that continues to unfold!

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) Prince | Official Podcast The Prince Estate The official podcast dedicated to Prince, the singular artist and visionary.
