Thank you, Captain Timothy Pemberton, from the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center,  for joining me on The Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast. Captain Timothy Pemberton. To begin with, Captain Timothy is the Business Administrator for the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Santa Monica, CA.  He has been on both sides of the fence when it comes to addiction treatment. Therefore, this gives him a unique perspective on helping others. Captain Timothy works on the front lines of the Fentanyl crisis that claims so many lives. He knows that The Salvation Army ARC program works because he witnesses success every day. The Salvation Army is dedicated to giving mothers their sons back, giving wives their husbands back, and giving children their fathers back. Programs That Restore.   In Santa Monica, The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center helps residents to combat their addictions and build the work and social skills needed to re-enter the workforce. This enables them to regain health and stability and restore families that have been disrupted due to substance abuse. Here is a photo of Captain Timothy, talking to an unhoused person.                   We are all familiar with seeing people from The Salvation Army. Here are some facts that you perhaps didn’t know. Why the Uniform? The Salvation Army uniforms are not very stylish. In fact, they often get mistaken for Airline Pilots. But they are honored to wear them as an outward sign of their calling. including but not limited to caring for the lost, feeding the hungry, and comforting the hurting. They remind us that they represent something larger than themselves. They are an Army on the front lines and fighting with love. Why Officers? William Booth, the founder of The Salvation Army said “We are a volunteer army” in 1878. As such, The Salvation Army is designed with officers in leadership. Though they started as volunteers, over the last 150 years, The Salvation Army has grown into a multinational organization with volunteers, full-time staff, and officers that serve those most in need. Officer Training College. Because their officers function as directors of their business units, they require them to complete a two-year year program at their accredited Training College. This program includes nonprofit management, business administration, and theological training. Upon graduation, they are ordained as Salvation Army Officers and sent out on their first assignment in a local community. Takeaways. For those of you who live in the vicinity of the Adult Rehabilitation Center, perhaps you could take part in this upcoming event.  In raising awareness for their program, The Salvation Army is launching a Second Chances Campaign, beginning with an open house on May 17th from 9 am-1 pm.  They will be featuring a special guest speaker at 10:30 am.
