Connecting More Often and Faster Through Short Podcasting

from The Davo Show · host David Bourne

Connecting More Often and Faster Through Short Podcasting I’m rebooting my short form podcast, The Davo Show with some new back-end improvements to make things better and faster. The end goal is connecting more often and more deeply with nature with exploration, but especially with the inner exploration of the human heart and mind. (This is what coaching with me is all about, by the way.) How Are You Connecting More Deeply, Inside And Out? Are you traveling soon? Where are you going? Why are you going? What are you looking for? What are you trying to leave behind? We travel to find new frontiers in the outer world, Because we’re looking for new frontiers on the inside. Having a greater awareness of the inner journey allows us to make changes that are better, faster, and more ultimately meaningful. That’s what the Davo Show and everything I do here at DavidBourne.com is all about. So I hope you stay tuned! Show Notes The pileated woodpecker – one of my next-door neighbors in the woods. Auphonic – The Amazing web audio processing engine that saves me at least an hour per episode. Blubrry – My new podcast host that saves me 3 step because Auphonic can send my MP3 files to it. PowerPress – A WordPress plugin that helps people find you, not your podcast host. Sitting in my backyard. So you're going to hear some birds. Probably some tire sounds on the new the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway, maybe an airplane. Maybe some wings. Like I heard earlier today. I walked out into the forest that's right next to my backyard and immediately heard the flapping of some large wings. And then I saw it. The red head, pointed beak, the big black bird the pileated woodpecker. I had disturbed it. And it flew off maybe about 30 yards away, landed in an oak tree and gave me that laugh. You ever heard that laugh? The pileated woodpecker laugh. It's pretty cool. So this recording is going to be the recording that I post to Episode 13 of the Davao show, which is my freeform podcast that I often create in my backyard, or wherever I am out and about, if something happens, I see something here something feels something thinks something, then the idea is that the short form podcast is there for me to record it, send it to the server to send my text update to my website, publish it, and hopefully within half an hour, if I've done my job, right, that thing is out there in the world. And so this recording, actually that I'm making this episode 13 is going to be the proxy, which is the standard in file that I'm going to put up there on the server for all these episodes. So they're all going to point to this episode. The first one will be episode 13. The next one, I will rename it episode 14 1516 etc. And I'm gonna go ahead and make those connections to these draft webpages. So that when I make the new recording, and I give it the the number like so this one's 13. So the next time I do this, that's going to be the real test, when I'm going to call it Episode 14, and it's gonna go up to the server and replace it with the new recording. And then I'm going to take draft number 14 draft WordPress post number 14, Episode 14, and I'm going to edit it and then it's going to hopefully, if it works as the way I think it's going to, it's going to publish that new file. You don't need to know all this unless you're wanting to do this. And what I've decided to do is make a longer recording. I meant three minutes and 12 minutes, seconds, three minutes and 15 seconds now make a longer recording because this proxies need to be kind of long. That's a technical detail I won't go into but I'm going for about five and a half minutes. But that's the idea. So I'm recording this on iPhone in an app called off phonic. Of phonic is the audio software that lives on a server somewhere in Germany I believe. So after I stopped this recording, I will rename the file to Episode 13 send it up to all phonic where it gets processed. Several things happen there in all phonic. That's where so much of this automation comes in, I will add a photograph to the audio file, the mp3 file that is downloaded on your device that will be text. That will be what else? Some data that's associated with it. There will be a transcript. Although I can't get that part to work very well. I'll be working on that. There will be what else that's about it. Audio, photograph, text. Some links hold that stuff will be embedded into that mp3 file. And I'll find it does all that. That's the beauty of it. That's what really makes all this automation work. All phonic is all Somebody get two hours for free a month. It's amazing. And then you can pay for more if you're doing longer podcasts. It's perfect for the short form for me. Because I can experiment like crazy and not even have to pay for it. But I will be giving them some money because they're awesome. So all phonic then shoots the file in their immense ability, they shoot the file over to my podcast server. Now that's what I spent about eight hours yesterday setting up. So that server will then connect it to that WordPress document. This is not making any sense to you if you don't kind of have an idea of how this stuff works. So I'll eventually make a video about this. But my proxy time is about over. So I'm going to end this recording, and then shoot it up to the server. So thanks for listening, and there'll be more coming. Thanks for listening to this episode of the Davao show. You can find more at David bourne.com. That's spelled Bo u r any hope to see you there. Cheers. ### THEINSPIRATION - rebooting the short form podcast, testing systems, automating, making it even more efficient so that I can come out here I’ll be out record something and have it go where it’s supposed to go. ### OUTLINE - Tweaking the back in systems to make the short form podcast even easier - 10 or 12 hours in the last two days - Why do all the work, because it’s gonna be worth it to have things automated so I only have to write a title a description, a few links to some relative posts on my site or elsewhere, and then the podcast itself - so what am I gonna talk about? Observations being outdoors connecting to nature but also the best venture of the mall which is the choice to explore the inside of the human mind and heart that’s why I got into coaching that’s why I am returning to this podcast to get more more connected to these ideas but I find this growth it’s amazing journey that we’re all in together ### SHORTDESCRIPTION - I’m rebooting my short form podcast with some new back in improvements to make things better and faster. With the end goal of connecting more often and more deeply with nature with exploration, but especially with the inner exploration of the human heart and mind. ### HEADLINEIDEAS - The deepest exploration is not the bottom of the ocean or even Mars. It’s the human heart and mind. TITLE: connecting more often faster through short form podcasting.
