Covering Our Sin

from Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall · host Heather Darnall

What a wonderful thing it is to have a Lord who knows that we're sinners and that we can't help it - as in He genuinely understands that our failures are inevitable.  But where He draws the line is when we try to cover our sin, more so thinking that God isn't looking and/or will never even notice, while at the same time not thinking that our bad choices have a negative effect on other people as well.  In today's episode, I'm going to talk about the dangers of not coming clean when it comes to our intentional efforts of trying to cover our sin using Joshua 7:10-26 as the main scripture.  It's extremely important to remember - and to know - that God is not a God that enjoys punishment.  However, He will follow through with it because He is a just God that cannot have any part of sin.   So keep in mind that we must understand He punishes the sin, it's just unfortunate that we, or the individual, carried out that sin, thus the sinner must also be punished.  Therefore we can see His continuous warnings as well as encouragement to keep His people - including us - on a path that best reflects His nature in order to maintain a divine relationship.  However, be mindful that Old Testament punishment at times was immediate whereas now living according to New Testament standards, our unrepented sin will be punished come His appointed time. Please note that this is according to the best of my current knowledge and understanding.  I encourage anyone to please check and verify as scripture encourages all believers to do so.  There may be times where I have misunderstood information by mistake which is why verifying is important if you feel led by the Holy Spirit to do so.Support the show
