Der neue Bundestag kommt am heutigen Dienstag zu seiner konstituierenden Sitzung zusammen. Dabei wird die neue Bundestagspräsidentin oder der neue Bundestagspräsident gewählt. Außerdem entlässt Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier am Nachmittag den bisherigen Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) und sein Kabinett. Im neuen Bundestag hätte eine Koalition aus Union und SPD eine deutlich knappere Mehrheit als zuvor die Ampelregierung. Dadurch könnte die Opposition mitunter mehr Einfluss haben. Was das für die Arbeit der neuen Regierung bedeutet, erklärt Ferdinand Otto, Politikredakteur bei ZEIT ONLINE. Im niedersächsischen Verden beginnt heute der Prozess gegen das ehemalige RAF-Mitglied Daniela Klette. Sie wurde 2024 in Berlin-Kreuzberg festgenommen, nachdem sie jahrzehntelang im Untergrund gelebt hatte. In dem Prozess geht es um die 13 Raubüberfälle, die Klette gemeinsam mit den ebenfalls untergetauchten früheren RAF-Mitgliedern Burkhard Garweg und Ernst-Volker Staub zwischen 1999 und 2016 begangen haben soll.
