This week we do a deep dive in to the lie! We dive into the details behind the government's "attempts" to cool the housing market and "help" domestic buyers with real estate affordability. We have highlighted the main attempts below & the money they have collected with regards: - Foreign Buyers Tax - $519,000,000 collected 2018 - 2022 - Speculation Tax + Vacancy / Empty Homes Tax - $248,000,000 collected 2018 - 2022 And then just for fun some other other current Real Estate Related taxes that have been collected by the provincial governments in the past few years. - PTT - $8,400,000,000 collected 2018 - 2022 - Property Tax - $13,600,000,000 collected 2018 - 2022 The Cool Off Period has also been proposed to come into play this summer. We are of the opinion that this is a huge mistake and will assist the market in no positive way.
