Accountability To Improve Sales Success with Connie Whitman (episode 365) "Accountability, the ability of people to understand what is expected of them, exercise authority, and take responsibility for delivering results, is an important dimension of organizational health." – Michael Bazigos    What does accountability mean to you? I remember my first client from 25 years ago. We were creating a dynamic client journey culture focusing on being a community partner, new business development, and career growth within the company.   After 2 years of working to build this culture, we were approaching the end of my work with them. During the two years, we created rinse-and-repeat sales and business development processes. We implemented tools to measure and reports for leaders to evaluate and leverage for effective coaching conversations.   I met with the COO to discuss how he could continue to support the momentum and changes we had made in his marketplace using clear goals, coaching, and other measurements that his managers had embraced and loved using.  He looked at me and said, "Well, I'm not going to assign goals because then we become pushy salespeople versus customer service." The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
