Episode No. 137 The Courage To Experiment

from The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast · host Jessica Lauren

So you have this big idea...To open a cafeLaunch a podcastWrite a bookStart a businessGo back to schoolAnd you're probably thinking..."This is it! This is my one chance to get it right/ make a million bucks/ revamp my career/ have my big break/ be successful/ etc."Now I get it-- your goals are big, and the stakes to make them happen are even bigger. So it's only natural that you want this leap of faith to be an instant success. When you launch, you want to reach a legion of fans. When you submit your book to literary agents, you want them to sign you and give you a contract on the first try.You want a ton of clients, downloads, subscribers, and money. And listen, honey, I don't blame you, but what happens when it doesn't work out like that? When you launch, and you only get two clients or a handful of downloads? Well, the tendency for most of us #GoalGetters is to give the hell up. We hate "failure" with a passion and we'll do anything in our power to avoid it. But what if it didn't have to go down like that? What would it look like for you to release yourself from all that pressure? How would it feel to give yourself some space to experiment and play with your goals and not make them the end all be all? In today's episode, we're taking it back to middle school and we're figuring out how to get a little bit more scientific with our goals and dreams. How to look at failure and success as an experiment so that we can keep going even after facing setbacks.
