Gillian Stevenson and the Secrets of Havening; touch as the gateway to healing

from Embodied with Anthea Bell · host Anthea Bell

On this week's episode, I have the great privilege of speaking with Gill Stevenson - Havening Coach, NLP Master Practitioner and certified Hypnotherapist with almost 20 years of clinical experience.  It was a fascinating conversation - exploring the science behind the Havening technique; exactly how "big and little t" trauma become neurologically wired; the ways trauma impacts our bodies/beings; and just how impactful somatic practice can be in the journey of healing. A scientist at heart, Gill began her career in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry - leading teams in international business development for over 25 years.  Her first life offered a comprehensive picture of the universal challenges to health - not only the difficulties of conditions themselves, but the lack of effective diagnosis and treatment. Over time, peoples' spoken accounts revealed to her what worked and significantly, what didn't.  This started Gillian on the path to her second life: training in mind and body therapies, inspired even then by a mission to improve health for as many people as possible.  Gill's philosophy evolved over time, through her experience with patients with a range of health concerns. As you will hear, her practice today is rooted in the belief that often, the most effective means of resolving trauma is through non-verbal means - connecting to the body, stabilising the nervous system and re-wiring neurology through the power of image and touch. For further information on Gillian's work, please reach out to her directly at: [email protected] further information on Havening Techniques, a registered trademark of Dr Ronald Ruben (15 East 91st Street, New York), please visit www.havening.org And as ever dear listeners, for more information on the Finding Your Way Home Podcast, upcoming speakers and events, and 1:1 Embodiment Coaching, visit: www.ab-embodimentcoaching.org I'd love to hear from you, whatever the reason.
