Thank you Gramps Jeffrey for joining me on the Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast.

Gramps Jeffrey.

Gramps Jeffrey has 4 kids and 6 grandchildren and looks at how the kids are growing up. As a baby boomer, Gramps is trying to understand how the world has evolved since he was 3 years old.

I Don’t Want to Turn 3.

What goes through a toddler’s mind that parents are so desperate to understand? When does a toddler understand the difference between “me” and “us”? This book explores how a family finds out together.

Welcome to Jordan’s world.

Here is an excerpt from his book.

“Then all of a sudden Olivia screams “what are my dancing shoes doing in Jordan’s room?” The entire family runs to my private bedroom and Jackson yells “my dinosaurs” and Levi shrieks “my sea creatures” and Baker bawls “truck” and Grace cries “my dolls.” And Mommy looks at me like today will be my last day alive.”

Gramps Takeaways.

“This newest generation of children from 1 year old to 10 years old is the greatest generation our society has ever produced. Because they are exposed to technology as soon as they are born, it is up to parents and grandparents to balance their education with real-world experiences.  Create curiosity and in turn, you will build imagination.”

“The book “I Don’t Want to Turn 3” explores at what age we begin to take responsibility for our actions. Is it 3 years old, 13 years old, or 23 years old?  I know plenty of baby boomers who at 63 years old still don’t take responsibility for their actions.  As we influence how this greatest generation grows up, we must always remember that it is necessary to teach children how to think, not what to think.”

Here is a quote that we can all add to our conversations with the children and quite frankly, the adults we know:

“What did you do today that was nice to somebody else?”

Thanks, Gramps for sharing your story.
