Bisher sind alle Verhandlungen über eine Waffenruhe im Gazastreifen erfolglos gewesen. Am vergangenen Freitag hat US-Präsident Joe Biden einen neuen Vorschlag Israels vorgestellt. Der Plan sehe laut Biden mehrere Phasen vor: Zunächst soll es eine sechswöchige Waffenruhe geben und Geiseln freigelassen werden. Daraufhin sollen die Kämpfe dauerhaft eingestellt werden und der Wiederaufbau des Gazastreifens beginnen. Warum es unrealistisch ist, dass Israel und die Hamas sich auf diesen Vorschlag einigen, analysiert ZEIT-ONLINE-Autor Martin Klingst. Im April hat das EU-Parlament einer Richtlinie über das Recht auf Reparatur zugestimmt. Die soll dafür sorgen, dass kaputte Haushaltsgeräte und Alltagsprodukte wie Waschmaschinen, Staubsauger oder Handys künftig häufiger repariert statt neu gekauft werden. Solange ein defektes Produkt noch reparierbar ist, sind die Hersteller etwa verpflichtet, Reparaturoptionen anzubieten – und zwar auch über die gesetzliche Garantiezeit hinaus.
