The fleas who had been banging their heads had finally given up! Fleas have fantastic jumping abilities. You will soon have no fleas if you have a jar full of fleas and leave it open. They'll all have jumped out. However, if you cover the flea jar with a lid and leave it for a few days, something remarkable happens. They will not enjoy bashing their heads on the jar lid when they leap, so they've all learned to jump considerably lower, low enough to avoid smashing their flea brains on the cover. Even if you remove the jar's cover, they will only jump a certain distance, even though they could leap considerably higher just a few days before. After then, they’ll only jump that high and not any higher. They learned that this is their limit, the highest they can jump without hurting themselves, and that they should not jump any higher, even if the conditions alter. Oh, fleas!... But how frequently do we do the same thing ?!?! Are we slamming ourselves against the ledges above us? Like a flea, we don't frequently re-calibrate our aspirations and leap only so high to avoid getting harmed! So, today you learned how to prevent being wounded by disappointment by intentionally excluding it from the equation from the start. This will significantly impact your life, as you will see if you follow my advice. Three More points to Remember Keep your ambitious desire to yourself since others may be put off by your decision to dream and may not believe in you. The only exception is if you are surrounded by influential supporters. Writing it down as a goal is a massive step toward making it a reality. It also makes it much simpler to remain on track and establishes a strict commitment with yourself. Always think large, big enough to get you energized about what you're going to do with your life. To help you to go out of your comfort zone, now we are going to learn how to strike a pact with your wizard, your subconscious mind's power. Say something like this: "Let's work something out. You're my life's best buddy. I'd like to ask for your assistance in achieving the aim I'll discuss in a moment, which I'd like to accomplish. But please know no matter what happens, it's fine if we don't make it. It's a normal situation. Our endeavor will have no negative consequences. I'm so proud of both of us just knowing that we tried, and regardless of the outcome, I'd like to see that you assisted me. Is that acceptable to you?" Then tell your subconscious precisely what you desire, utilizing vivid mental images as though your goal has already been realized. You make it as follows when you repeat the trade...

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
