"Identity"

from Able Voice Podcast · host Synergy Music Therapy & Wellness Services

Welcome back to Able Voice Podcast with certified music therapists Hayley Francis Cann and Kimberly Dolan. In this episode we talk about identity. This is a big topic that has many layers. We have both discovered, along our journeys, pieces of our identities as human beings that correlate with our professional identities and pieces that do not. This episode of AVP was recorded before the escalation of recent world events surrounding the targeted police brutality and oppression of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC). However, we challenge you to further consider how the factors of your intersectionality - including race, sexuality, age, level of education, ability, religion, gender identity, nationality, etc. - relate to your identity as a music therapist. We challenge you to think about the parts of your whole self that tangibly transfer into your identity as a music therapist. We would love to hear from you!
