LA VERDAD Es algo que se busca, lo que se enuncia son sus conclusiones, las características que exige hacen de ella un valor. La verdad define su permanencia y su universalidad, no debe confundirse con la relatividad de las opiniones humanas. La verdad se descubre en la historia, y este hallazgo depende en par- te de las condiciones históricas en las que se produce; esto muestra el carácter histórico y variable del conocimiento humano y no significa que la verdad sea relativa; no hay tantas verdades como hay épocas, países o individuos. Una verdad de época no sería una verdad, sino una opinión, aun si todo el mundo en un momento dado la comparte. Por ejemplo: hacia el siglo xvii se impuso la idea de que la Tierra gira al rededor del Sol, cuando en el medievo se pensaba unánimemente lo contrario; la humanidad no pasó de una verdad propia de un tiempo a otra, sino de una creencia falsa a una verdad. Entonces hay que distinguir “verdad” y "conocimiento".
