James 1 - The Law of Liberty

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

Today, Saturday November 14 - James 1:25 "But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing." The Bible is the the "perfect law"!  And in this verse James calls it, "the law of liberty."  So many people think that the "law of God" is restrictive and puts a person in bondage and under condemnation.  That's why so many of us neglect it, ignore it and don't want anything to do with it.  Most of the Ten Commandments are, "Thou shalt not....".  Sounds negative doesn't it?  But James is telling us that when we look into this "law", and obey it, we experience genuine liberty from the tyranny and slavery of sin.  We are set free to do the things that really bring us happiness and joy.  Jesus Himself, totally and completely fulfilled the Law of God, with His sinless life, His death and resurrection.  When we believe and trust in Him, He sets us free! "If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed!" (John 8:36) Then you can fulfill all the commandments that are summed up in two things - "Love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself."  God bless and have a "blessed" day!
