Jehovah-Nissi - The Banner, Our Cause and Mission

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

Today, Saturday August 22 - Jehovah Nissi, The LORD is our Banner.  In days past, when the troops of two opposing armies would face each other on the battle field, the lead soldiers would carry the flag or banner, that symbolized their country, their mission and their cause!  In the heat of the battle, the warriors would keep an eye on the "Banner" to give them courage and remind them what they were fighting and dying for.  What does it mean that Jehovah-Nissi is our Banner?  It means we have a Declared Allegiance! The world around us will know whose side were are on.  We are either a friend of God or a friend of the world. (James 4:4)  It means we know who our Adversary is! (1 Peter 5:8)  It means we know who our Associates are and where our loyalties are!  Do we have the kind of friends that hold us accountable, who pray for us and encourage us?  It means that we have determined purpose in our lives.  We are disciplined to read our Bibles and pray daily.  We are disciplined to serve the Lord and others and not self. (1 Corinthians 9:27) May the Lord help us to keep our eyes on Jehovah-Nissi as we face the challenges of life!  God bless!
