I want to disabuse everyone who is listening to this that you need to be artistic to be able to draw. You don’t. You don’t need even need to be creative. Drawing is not an artistic process, not in the way I’m talking about it. Drawing is a thinking process. And once you get to that point you realize that “I don’t care if you’re drawing looks like the thing that you’re trying to draw. Say that you’re trying to draw a picture of your car and I say “that doesn’t look like a car, that’s a terrible drawing.” If I can get the idea that there are two circles that represent wheels and a box sitting on top of them, if it’s close enough to me for a car for me to say “that’s a car”, that’s all I care about. What I’m interested in is what is the idea of what you’re trying to convey.
