Local Business Branding

from Xpansion Code Radio · host John Nichols

Local Business Branding“Stop working in your business and start working on your business!” When it comes to Branding your business, you need to get out of your business and into your local community. You need to build your brand around you with a logo and tagline. Just try it for 1 year and you will reap great rewards.1. Business to Business Networking GroupsBNI is the world’s largest networking group, and one I highly recommend.  BNI operates on the philosophy of “giver’s gain,” in which the more referrals you give to fellow members, the more referrals will be given back to you.Trustegrity - The foundation of success includes powerful relationships built on trust between people and organizations working together to solve challenges and pursue opportunities.  At Trustegrity, that’s what we do.  We carefully select like-minded professionals to be part of local groups to form relationships that matter, not just to refer opportunities, but more importantly to create real friendships that transcend a commercial transaction.2. Mastermind GroupsMastermind groups bring people together for a shared goal, or shared set of goals, such as better business.  Mastermind groups allow you to tap into other perspectives, get support to achieve your goals, and create a level of accountability for taking action to do so.3. Chamber of CommerceOK, so almost everyone joins their local Chamber; but how active are you in it?Do you attend meetings, volunteer for committees, or otherwise play a role as an active member of the group? If not, you’re undoubtedly missing local opportunities and connections that can propel your business.4. Non-profit OrganizationsThis one is the most important thing you should be doing. Find a non-profit that you are passionate about. You should donate your money but mostly your time to this organization. Just start out as a volunteer. You don’t have to spend a lot of time volunteering, but it needs to be at least once a month.5. Local High School Sports ProgramsFind a local high school sports team to support. Once again, donate your time and money to this team. It doesn’t take up much time and normally not a lot of effort.6. Civic OrganizationRotaryKiwanisLions Club7. Trade OrganizationsBe on the lookout for local trade, merchant, and industry-specific associations you can join.My area has a Young Professionals Association in which we meet monthly to listen to a business speaker.  That’s all good, but the true value of membership is realized over beers after the presentation, when we get to meet, discuss, network, and grow.8. Local Trade ShowsBuy a booth at on of your local trade shows and get your business in front of people in your community. Have some giveaways or an entry to win a prize. If you have a service business be sure to set appointments at the show. At the show, try to talk to everyone that passes your booth. It is your responsibility to start the engagement with your potential customers. I am inviting you to check out my resources page. It is completely FREE and has a ton information and some downloads.
