Marika Miky Gibson Embracing Change

from WomanUp - There's only one you · host WomanUp

In this week's episode, we had the opportunity to interview the incredible Marika Miky Gibson. Miky is a woman who has experienced many changes in her life. Marika started her journey by getting a Bachelor Degree in International Business Management and French Language. This study took her to Lyon and then Paris where she acquired a Master’s in Energy and Sustainable Development Management. She continued working abroad in France and the Netherlands in Project Management before returning to Canada to work as a Project Manager in renewable energy development. In our chat with Miky… We focus on Change. “Terrifying!” Miky says. Change is terrifying. Doesn’t matter how many times you go through it, every time feels like the very first time. Yet, Miky did it, she took many leaps of faith.  She always dived right into new things, which always took her out of her comfort zone. New country, new cities, new language, new people, equals a very new Miky. Experiencing change comes with the biggest growth of all, and that’s the view one has on their life. Miky shares with us her definition of embracing change. All the bumps, blessings and lessons, with the biggest one being that time does actually heal. So cliché and yet so true. Change might be uncomfortable but the minute you understand what motivates you, then you can be anywhere in the world, and that’s just what she did! Finally, Miky stresses the importance of envisioning. Through personal examples she proves how it has worked for her on many occasions of life. Envisioning is no magic. Envisioning helps us subconsciously make all the necessary changes daily to get to where we want. Success to Miky is: “Maintaining connections and being able to be an educator and a leader”. Miky’s message to women is: “If you have a vision for yourself, figure out the changes that need to happen between the ‘you’ now and the ‘you’ in your future, and just start dreaming about what you need to do to get there.” To connect with Miky, find her on the following platforms: IG: @mikygibson LinkedIn: Marika Gibson
