Close your eyes and breathe in slow, As you quiet your busy mind.   PAUSE… It’s that special time of the day, The time to unplug and tune in. To remind yourself that you’re not alone, No matter how untrue that feels.   PAUSE… It’s easy to feel like an island, Even when you’re surrounded by others. PAUSE… But in all the ways that count, In all the ways that serve your spirit, You’re always in safe and loving hands, And the universe has your back.   PAUSE… Let yourself feel the warmth of that support, Let it lift you and hold you tight. Feel your breathing find a gentle, easy pace, As compassion rolls through your body. PAUSE… Energy can take any form you like, Whatever speaks to you and makes you feel safe. Picture angels, pulsing waves, or strong, supportive hands, Rushing in to give you what you need.   PAUSE… Relax into that protected space, See your body as a fortified shell. It holds the vital parts of you, Giving you a safe place to thrive.   Inhale and feel your lungs at work, managing every fundamental breath. Exhale and follow the air as it releases, falling under its rhythmic spell. LONG PAUSE… Sink deeper into the magic of you, The exquisite way your life elements work together. Mind, body, and soul, you make your way bravely, While the cosmos watches and sustains. PAUSE… You are part of a giant web, A connection between one and all. The tiniest change can have epic ripples, Sometimes shifting before you even know it.   PAUSE… So rest easy and let your worries go, You don’t have to carry everything by yourself. Lean on the energetic grid all around you, And find calm in its loving embrace.   PAUSE… Whether working or playing, sleeping or awake, Your soul is being looked after. An infinite history of loving care, Is literally yours for the taking.   PAUSE… Let the universe’s compassion wash over you, Sweeping all that does not serve you aside. LONG PAUSE… It’s an awesome and heartening realization, The understanding that you’re not alone. So often, we don’t know where to look For the assistance our hearts yearn to find.   PAUSE… It’s so easy to dismiss the importance, The reason we need to belong. But we’re never so effective as when we’re aligned, And our power is turned up to max.   PAUSE… So nestle deeper into that blanket, Let sweet wishes carry you away. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
