"Mike and Fran Unrehearsed" is a show about the questions we all have about everyday life and living in the world today and the ups and downs that go with it. A show featuring a Mother and Son who see life through different eyes and discuss their outlook on life as affected by their differences in age, generations and backgrounds. During each show, Fran answers questions from listeners using her unique view of life and her 94 years of wisdom. Her oldest son Mike puts in his two cents as well and together make for some thought provoking conversations. It's like have a 3 1/2 hour conversation with your Mom while sitting at the beach and recording the best 30min so everyone can listen in. Mom intro, Mike intro. Mom ESL teacher story. 1. What was it like as a women in college and what were your favorite classes? Fran: No men in college, most men were in the war except for 4F’s. Went to some USO club events. Wore saddle shoes, skirts, sweaters or cashmere sweater. Peterpan collars. Paid own way through college. Worked as an usherette at night with a cute black & white outfit. Mcdonalds theater, carried a flashlight. Dr. baldinger, running cameras in classrooms. Worked on the farm and made 15 cents per hour or 1 dollar for each task. Mrs Archibald did not like my cooking and made me walk around around campus with a failed recipient. Tried to impress her and lost footing and tumbled under her piano. Did mens work on farm because most men were in the war. University of High School used university campus. Favorite classes in college, not math. as a teacher wanted to get kids to like math. Mrs Dan was my math teacher ... but I was a basket case ... but later took math at Harper college and learned math later in life. Mike: Alyssa, my niece, was good at math and minored in math to study film editing. Fran: Fran did the blue books in college, testing booklet, pamphlet. Answer book. One book two book three books ... and class was still on fist book. Photographic memory. Roxy, my friend, hated to sit next to me in class. I was not good at Phycology. 2. What was the most important invention of your lifetime? Fran: mother got a washing machine, ran on a loud motor, put, put, put. Dec 7th 1941 Pearl Harbor day moved out of garage. Mike: grandpa was an type of Entreprenuer .... donkee hoody. .. chasing things ... read about black hole. We had encyclopedia Britainica .. 1921. No comic books. Mike: grandpa cornered friends at graduation .... and talked about black holes? 3. After take ... can you play the whole thing ... what’s on your mind Fran? What did you read in the paper? Post script .. wish I was back as a teacher .. to figure out a good solution.
