Desde Pokemon Company anunciaron el desarrollo del primer juego lucha de la franquicia, saldrá para Arcdes japoneses y estará a cargo del equipo de Tekken. No es la primera vez que Namco Bandai colabora con Nintendo en el desarrollo de juegos de lucha, recordando que actualmente están al frente del nuevo Super Smash Bros y desarrollaron una versión especial para la Wii U del juego Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Al frente de este nuevo juego de luchas basado en los mounstros de bolsillo estará Katsuhiro Harada, el hombre responsable de la saga Tekken, quién junto a Masaki Hoshino (programador de la saga Soul Calibur) afirmaron que la idea es que el juego sea una experiencia satisfactoria para el fan casual, como para el más hardcore jugador de fighting games. De hecho, la idea es que el juego salga primero en arcades japoneses para testear las reacciones de los jugadores, encontrar errores y posteriormente sacarlo para consolas hogareñas.
