Sometimes an amazing opportunity or idea can appear at what seems like the perfect time and be naturally aligned with your talents, but it turns out to be a mistake. In John 15, Jesus reveals both the key to letting God make the decisions for our lives and the rewards of doing so. Once we get to the end of ourselves and learn to rely on Him for our decision making, we’ll find the beginning of the life He actually intends for us and the wisdom to pursue it.

What We Find in the Dark Aubrey Sampson When we find ourselves in the dark after loss, big questions often follow: Where is God now? Why can’t we sense His presence? How can I trust that God is good? The deep theological wrestlings that arise after the pain of grief can be jarring. But we need permission to ask the raw questions and space to say them aloud. Join Aubrey Sampson and her guests–theologians, pastors, and Christian thought leaders as they unpack what we find in the dark–whether it be a dark night of the soul, disillusionment, disappointment or grief and in each conversation, offer glimmers of light, hope, and healing. DRC: Past. Present. Future? (Forced Migration Review 36) Oxford University The Democratic Republic of Congo is unfortunately synonymous with its dreadful past and its terrible present, despite its beauty, complex history and unachieved potential. Locked not only into its own internal troubles but also into those of the Great Lakes region, it has provided more than enough material on forced migration, violence and political quagmires for the latest issue of FMR.While the articles contained in this issue of FMR make grim reading, they also offer glimmers of hope for better outcomes, at least potentially, alongside analysis of how and why these things have been happening. Authors come from Congolese civil society, UN agencies and NGOs, Congolese and donor governments, and international research – and include articles by the former UN Relief Coordinator John Holmes and the former Humanitarian Coordinator in DRC Ross Mountain. This issue also contains a further seven articles on other forced migration-related subjects.See more at: http://www.fmreview.org/DRCongo Glimmers & Glows Steve There are times in our lives as nervy human creatures, that we experience glimmers and glows: a sense of being at "home" in ourselves and the world. In this state we feel safe and connected, calm and grounded. Words, music, art, nature takes us there; an encounter with another living being, but also specific emotion-regulation practices. This is a collection of my glimmers and glows, as well as those I have collected from others.
