LEJ LEJA Elohim spoke to Avram, saying, "Leave your land, birthplace, and father's house, and go to the land I will show you." According to Elohim, Avram will become a great nation there. Avram, accompanied by his wife Sarai and nephew Lot, traveled to the Land of Canaan, where he built an altar and continued to spread the message of Elohim. Due to famine, the first Jew traveled to Egypt, where Pharaoh took the beautiful Sarai to his palace. Avram escaped death by presenting themselves as brother and sister. A plague prevented the Egyptian king from touching Sarai, and she convinced him to return her to Avram and compensate him with gold, silver, and cattle. Back in the Land of Canaan, Lot separated from Avram and settled in the evil city of Sodom, where he was captured when Kedarlaomer's army and his three allies conquered the five towns of the Valley of Sodom. Avram went out with a small band to rescue his nephew, defeated the four kings, and was blessed by Malki-Tzedek, the king of Salem (Jerusalem). Elohim sealed the Covenant Between the Parties with Avram, in which the exile and persecution (Galut) of the Jewish people were reported to him, and the Holy Land was assigned to them as their eternal inheritance.
