These past few weeks have been hard on everyone. Even if you’re fortunate enough to not contract COVID-19 or lose your job, life has changed drastically. Being home all day can feel confining and being away from family or friends can feel like a deprivation. No one would blame you if you’re full of fear and spend the day moving miserably from your daytime to nighttime pajamas. If you’re a mother, it’s doubly hard, as you have to keep a smile on your face for your children who may or may not understand what’s going on. How can you do this? My guest on this episode of Dream Power Radio, psychotherapist Patti Ashley, offers her advice including:• how to cope with your stress• what to do with school-age children stuck at home• how much screen time is “too much”• how to maintain your own sense of selfDr. Patti Ashley is a psychotherapist, author, and international speaker who brings unique insight to the identification and treatment of trauma, shame, grief and dysfunctional family patterns. Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
