Para ello en 2008 Can se decide de seleccionar lo mejor de estas cintas de grabaciones entre 1969 y 1972. Can,the lost tapes. Phonotoner rescata esta caja de 5 vinilos y selecciona un buen ramillete de canciones que puedan introducirnos a la importancia de Can en la música actual. Entre 2008 y hasta su publicación en 2012, Irmin Schmidt junto con su yerno Jono Podmore filtran esas más de 50 horas de grabaciones.Jam sessions interminables , fragmentos de futuras canciones , descartes que no aparecieron en los discos oficiales y alguna que otra curiosidad .Can en estado puro. Una edición con todo lujo de detalles en la que el propio Schmidt nos cuenta todo el proceso. Un ejemplo de lo que podía hacer un grupo innolvidable. Can, the lost tapes.
