Pluie/Noir Podcast 062 "As I Am, It Shall Be" Sound Mixed & Compiled by https://soundcloud.com/thoreau-bectate Visual Interpretation by Duduchava Thoreau: Hi Beca, welcome. How's everything? I'm kind of living a never ending trip right now. Both figuratively and literally! Just when I think I'm grasping some sense of stability and reality, it shape-shifts. So, I would say, good! You're from Sydney, currently living in Berlin. How's Berlin treating you so far? It is a city of complete extremes. It is like being in a toxic relationship. It is totally addictive, incredibly challenging, life changing, mesmerising and a love I'lll remember for the rest of my life. The artistic vision here is far greater then I could ever imagine. I'm lucky to be here. You have a strong relation to arts and music. What have you been doing? I don't feel like I have been overly creative lately. My musical ear is evolving and maturing rapidly. As it was a spontaneous decision to stay here, I have been focusing on trying to build a new life. So getting inspired by bureaucracy, finding a home, getting a bank account and a job.. Really artistic stuff! But honestly, life is evolving really quickly, so I think 2016 will be an interesting one for me with music, dance, and hopefully a bit of writing. Highlights: Smaller parties outside of clubs. I am totally amazed at what people can organise here and that they are much more open minded (musically) to anything I have experienced back home. I adore this purist approach as it aligns with my musical philosophy. I am interested to see what comes from it. What were your inspirations and how did you record the podcast? This year, even though I have had very little time for music, I have seen it as a vehicle for learning to be confident to express and connect with the rawest part of myself. I have a fascination with the beauty in darkness and why it makes people so uncomfortable. This mix tests myself on one level to not delve into it too quickly, but also to try to challenge people to sit with it and observe it, hopefully feel it's moving/evocative nature. I am relatively new to DJing, I am a little hesitant to put myself out there. So I really appreciated Bruno's encouragement to do whatever I felt like. I think this platform is so important for both artists and listeners to ensure that music continues to evolve and progress in an intelligent, honest manner. Tools: a bottle of wine, 2 cdj's and a Xone DB4. It was done in one go. Tracks were so immersive, it was like a form of meditation for me. Hopes & Dreams for 2016? Buy hardware. Find time for music. Find balance and continue to find myself! Duduchava: Welcome to our Podcast Series. How's everything? You do paintings and also collages. Where does your inspiration come from? I'm excellent. It seems like a simple question, but answering it's very difficult. I start something, and in the end, usually, i get something unexpected and very interesting. I'm fond of technology, the cosmos and the universe. It's a result of my preferences from different images that I find on the web or created by myself. My source of inspiration is a world beyond reality. How did Beca's Podcast influence your visual interpretation? I was inspired by the name "Thoughts of the Soul". The podcast allowed me to see three types of way of life and thoughts of a human. My illustrations expresses three possible facades of a human soul: Liberty, the ordinary and loneliness Where can we see your work? Any exhibitions? You can find my work on the my website duduchava.com. I'll hope to showcase my works in Russia and possibly worldwide. Hopes and Dreams for 2016? I hope the world becomes peaceful in the near future, without wars, and i wish i'll be able to showcase my work more often. links: www.soundcloud.com/thoreau-bectate www.duduchava.com
